    Golden Pandora Alert!

    estimated arrival

OPT has set dates in the past, and they've always been wrong. They could post more ETAs, but they'd likely be no more accurate than any estimate you could come up with just based on the news you've read and you knowledge of the project so far. OPT posting dates would serve no other purpose...

    Nubs: 100% Success! (2010 - 11 - 21)

No offense to anyone, but when you take into account just how small time the Pandora project is, the idea of getting Foxconn on board is just kind of silly. There's 900 Pandora in existence. In other words, if you picked anyone in the world at random, they'd be more likely be a billionaire than...

    So exited!

That who I thought it was. As in, Pandora's brother-in-law.

    Nubs and a Schedule (2010-11-04)

It seems like they could put some sort of bin down there to catch that stuff. At least when they know they're going to be taking pictures.

I love the animated gif that simulates a marquee tag.

    I'm pretty sure it's CircuitCo.

How is your Pandora holding up?

I've taken apart my Pandora twice already, so it's not under warranty. If OPT is willing to switch the nubs for a reasonable price, then I'll gladly have them do it. But I'd rather wait two or three weeks for a Pandora with one working nub on the side where it's useful, than wait another 2...

How is your Pandora holding up?

Not well, unfortunately. It had several build issues common to early units, but I've fixed most of those. It's also developed two new problems since I receive it. Both problems are also common to early units. The first issue was the PTOD. It started about a week or so after I got my...

    Nubs and a Schedule (2010-11-04)

I'm actually more confused as to why everyone is so confused, than I am about the batches. It seems pretty straight forward to me. The 4000th board will be shipped out on the 15th, in a shipment of 1000. They didn't actually sell 4000 units for batch 1, so what ever boards are left over from...

The Coriolis effect isn't really strong to make any real difference in which way water drains out of a sink.

I don't think that would work, I've seen a lot of shops in my time.

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

Well the socketed nubs will available at some undetermined point in the future. Which in this project can be anywhere from a couple months from now to Two Months from now. I don't know when standard replacement nubs will be available, but I'm guessing it will before the socketed ones. I'm...

    Status summary (2010-10-31)

Have you had any luck getting more photos from board company? As in, ones that show more than a few hundred boards at once.

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

Well I've had my Pandora back all of three days and it's broke again. This time it's the left nub. It no longer re-centers itself, so if I move it in any direction it goes sailing off that way at warp speed until hits the edge of the screen. So I guess I'll be getting at least one...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

I got my Pandora back a couple of days ago. It's working great, but I want to be ready in case the same thing happens again. But I can't buy a replacement cable until I'm sure I'll be able to properly install it.

    Painted cases

I don't know what an electro-sparked coating is for plastics, but I don't think it has anything to do with an EDM. EDMs are for slow cutting hard metals generally for making things like molds, dies and form tools.

Fresh news from the board production (2010-10-20)

So is there a considerable amount of overhead involved in having two different manufactures producing boards both producing board at once? If not, it seems like you'd want to have these new guys start making board regardless of what the original company actually made. Is the issue just storing...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

Okay, so I got one question answered. But I'm still not clear on the situation with the LCD cable. I was told that to replace the LCD cable I would need a special tool, and to break apart the hinge (which doesn't go back together). So would the $4 LCD cable be useless without also buying the...
