The Truth is out there (2010-12-11)

That all sounds like a really bad idea. It's bad enough for CircuitCo that there are currently search engine bots sucking up pages on this forum that contain the name of their company, along with words like "unreliable" and "liars". But I agree that they do owe OPT something: a written...

The Truth is out there (2010-12-11)

The thing is, those 500 boards aren't all complete, they're "in various states". As in states of completeness, not states of the union (although at this point, that wouldn't surprise me too much).

The Truth is out there (2010-12-11)

I'm with Bigun on this one. I don't see how people can defend or make excuses for the board company. There is absolutely no excuse for lying to your customer for months on end. That's not how you run a business, and for that matter, that's not how you treat other people. And it seems like...

    gamepad in a mouse... WHAAAA?

I guess I may be missing something here. The engaget article seems pretty excited about this, and everyone in the comments seems to think it's a great innovation. But all I can think is "Why?". Why would I want a gamepad in my mouse?

    Trey?

I like how a picture of a tray of neatly pack, individually separated nubs is proceeded by a pile of loose boards on a dirty table.

    Trey?

So that means there must be a goatee-less version of this guy in the mirror universe who's honest and up front about everything.

    Trey?

Wow, how do you maneuver a brush that broad?

    Trey?

But I would hope that you wouldn't constantly insist to the customer that you were working on their parts, and outright lie about how many you had produced.

    Trey?

That fact that they're even working on them at all is good news? Up until now, I had just thought that was assumed.

    Help.. My Resistance Is Weakening

Is it possible to buy someone's queue position? If so, I'll buy your position at the price you'd be refunded ($315 USD, right?). That way, I get a second Pandora a little sooner, you get your money back, OPT doesn't lose any money and... well that's it.

    Pandora OMAP4 and POSITIVE FEEDBACK!!

Both my posts (the last one, and the one about the warranty), were specifically about the idea of OPT selling upgraded boards that could be installed into existing Pandoras. Redesigning the Pandora so it's easily upgraded by the end user may be a a good idea, but it seems like a pretty major...

    Pandora OMAP4 and POSITIVE FEEDBACK!!

Well regardless of whether or not it should void the warranty, it does. And I would say adding a video card to a desktop PC is definitely easier than replacing the board in a Pandora. Desktops are designed to be easily upgraded and repaired. A lot of manufactures actually use large knurled...

    Pandora OMAP4 and POSITIVE FEEDBACK!!

I could see the Pandora 2 being available as optionally a board upgrade or a full unit. The board could come with the D-pad and nubs already attached, so it would just be a matter of putting in, plugging in the screen, lining up the buttons and switches, and putting it back together. It seems...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

As long as you can take the hinge apart without breaking it, you probably should. It would probably be a lot easier to set it accurately. And there's just a very thin slit that you have to feed the cable through if you don't take the hinge apart, it would probably be very easy to fray the end...

    Spare parts (2010-10-21)

When my LCD cable failed I had a friend help me get it out. He managed to get the cable out (and put it back in) without taking the hinge apart. But, he wanted to take the hinge apart, and the way he said he would do it is exactly how you describe. I wouldn't let him do it though, because...

    Made In Taiwan

You know what would be worse than no more Pandoras being produced at all? Pandoras being produced in a sweatshop.

Refund required - Can it be made into a paypal account

Just so we're clear: The only thing Pandora had over the n900 was USB mode. Even though the n900 has no gaming controls, a smaller battery, and a smaller screen. And the Pandora is made obsolete by the PandaBoard, even though the PandaBoard has no gaming controls, no battery, no screen, and...

    Golden Pandora Alert!

It's just the way the flash from the camera is reflecting off it. The photo also makes it look kind of "speckled", but in person it's just solid, dark red. I'll probably eventually take a better picture. Pretty much my entire reasoning. I actually wish I had gone just a shade darker.

    Golden Pandora Alert!

Basically this here. Obviously you'll need to dissemble your Pandora and remove the innards. Just leave the hinge intact with the LCD cable still coiled inside. You should mostly only paint the outside of the case. The only inside part that needs to be painted is the outer rim of the inside...
