A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!)

I dunno. I'm worried about emphasizing the overall area of the plate too much and, given that the logo is made up of relatively thin lines (compared to something with volume like the light-up Apple logos on macbooks), I worry that any kind of silver border would fight with it for attention. My...

A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!)

Given that the picture at the top of the forum is the concept render, that's probably the plan, but I agree that it should be if it isn't already.

A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!)

While I still think "ThinkPad black" makes the best first impression and I agree with ED that the "gunmetal grey" should be darker, that grey is the first alternative to black I've seen that I wouldn't be self-conscious about pulling out to show people. (In fact, that colour reminds me of the...

A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!)

Agreed. The only devices I've ever seen which don't come with a charger are DIY parts like the Arduino and Raspberry Pi and devices which charge acceptably off a PC like my PRS-505 Sony Reader, which will charge off USB in 4 hours and then be good for a week of solid reading. (The PSP charger...

    Current statistics and some predictions

While unexpected expenses ate up my preorder fund, so I'm not directly part of that statistic, I'd still be waiting for either a confirmed black option or a community HOWTO on the DOs and DON'Ts of spray-painting a Pyra case if I had the money. When I determined that I couldn't quite justify...

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

As excited as I am about this, I'll have to wait: My wallet is still recovering from some fairly large expenses 6 months ago. I'm just gearing up to graduate and I don't know yet whether I'm more likely to need the US or the EU version. (I'm in Canada but I'll need a fairly significant income...

    ... we're still alive!

According to kernel devs like gregkh, You can't patch a non-Android kernel for Binder without getting Win9x-level insecurity because it assumes the Android runtime environment will enforce certain security invariants for it. To each his own. I grew up on laptops until 1997 and, when I finally...

    ... we're still alive!

That's actually a good thing. I was worried about how I'd click when needing precise positioning.

    ... we're still alive!

To be fair, that's assuming that they're all using eMMC from the same performance class. Also, the link in your signature is broken.

    ... we're still alive!

I'd be a little iffy on that one. I might wind up having to mount /usr from an SD card to fit all of the pieces I want to apt-get and plumb together, which would probably wipe out the performance benefits of having / on fast eMMC.

    ... we're still alive!

Another thing I forgot to mention: I want to do a LOT of customization and I keep putting off doing it with my Pandora because of the hassle involved in plumbing PNDs together. My plan for the Pyra was to load as much as possible onto the root partition via apt-get, which means that 16GB would...

    ... we're still alive!

Assuming it performs as well or better, I'd definitely pay the extra for the 16GB eMMC. If I don't use it, that's more space for wear-levelling. If I do use it, that's more I can fit onto the fastest storage on the system.

Release Emu EX Plus Alpha ported to the Pandora

Thanks. I think my SZ is due for an upgrade (and I somehow wound up deleting the kernel modules for the OSS API that Mupen64Plus depends on), so that'll have to wait until I've got a few hours to double-check that I didn't let my on-desktop mirror of my SD cards get stale. (To mitigate my...

Release Emu EX Plus Alpha ported to the Pandora

That'd explain it. I have a Rebirth edition and, unless I've been mistaken these past three years, that's just a CC with twice the RAM. Given that nothing other than GBC.emu seems to be breaking in a way that bothers me, what do you suggest I do to get a GBC emulator that has a GUI (unlike the...

    Release Mupen64Plus 2.2

Well, there's the problem. I've got no snd_*_oss because /lib/modules/3.2.39/kernel/sound/core/oss/ is empty for some reason. Still not sure why the SDL audio plugin for Mupen64Plus doesn't fall back to ALSA like everything else, though.

    Release Mupen64Plus 2.2

My account is in the audio group and, when I tried manually re-creating the device node to match yours... sudo mknod -m 660 /dev/dsp c 14 3 sudo chown root:audio /dev/dsp ...it got rid of the error message but I still got no sound out of Mupen64Plus. EDIT: Some further testing with...

Release Emu EX Plus Alpha ported to the Pandora

When I try to use GBC.emu 1.5.29, fresh from the repo, playing a game works fine but, when I go back into the menus, it starts to glitch out, responding to input events in strange ways (eg traversing menu entries out of order and being flaky about acknowledging other types of button presses)...

    Release Mupen64Plus 2.2

The sound isn't working for me with either of the audio plugins. (Tested with Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie under 2.1.0.19 from the repo) When using the notaz plugin, the log contains the following four lines: When using the SDL plugin, it contains this: I'm not sure whether I'm...

You'll hate this post. And you'll love this post.

Given how transparent it is and that they claim it's bulletproof, I suspect it might be polycarbonate. (At the right thickness and tolerance, that's used for bulletproof materials and have you ever tried destroying a coaster'd CD-R or DVD+R? Those things are very flexible.)
