    Verizon Droid

SO, Verizon is going to end its crippling of GPS and Bluetooth on their smartphones? Their LG line has been GPS capable, and also wireless Bluetooth tethering capable for years. Verizon cripples those functions in their software so they can make money. $9.95 per month for VZNavigator GPS driving...

Surely The Case Moulds Should Be Done By Now ?

Actually, the company in Texas makes the assembled Pandora. They take all the little bits and assemble them to the bigger whole. I would call this "Making" by any definition of the term. Again, Thanks for your detailed updates, MWeston. They are extremely helpful.

Update From Ed On Official Blog

Well, I asked this question a few days ago. Didn't get an answer. Maybe we'll get one here.

    Did You Get This Newsletter?!

Thanks to MWeston about the correction on the factory doing the board assembly. My questions are: Is this factory doing the entire final Pandora assembly work? If so, is there a time frame on getting all the parts other than the boards, keymats, and cases delivered to this factory? You know...

    Did You Get This Newsletter?!

If TI is doing the final assembly, then I'd like to hear that all the LCD's, speakers, nubs, internal cables, hinge pins, batteries, screws, etc. have been shipped to Texas, so that all they have to wait for are the finished cases and keypads from the Chinese manufacturer. Well, have they?

    Picture Of The Final Keymat?

They could use clear UV fluorescent DayGlo dyes in the keymat fonts, and modders could mount UV LED's on the case lid pointing down at the keyboard. Voila', glowing keys.

    Disappointed Again

If I've been reading the OP team's descriptions of the moulding, and my own experience in buying molded parts, there really is no prototype which could be produced "when moulding started". They can't extrude the parts until the moulds are complete, and at that point, the production line will be...

    A/v Cables Have Arrived!

(We're talking about the headphone jack as another audio input here) My suggestions may need some tweaking, as the audio input may need a preamp to take audio in from a microphone.

    A/v Cables Have Arrived!

I know there's a video taken with a camera of the prototype video out operating on a TV screen. Would it be possible to hook this up directly to a video capture card and make a video for us to see? Direct from the Pandora to Youtube! Thanks, j.

    Mould Creation Time

No, I'd only retain two or three boards for extended nub testing. We need to make sure the solder holds up, you know. I'm open for suggestions as to which nub-intensive software to use for my QC program. Its a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.

    Mould Creation Time

Looks like 5 solder pads per Nub. If you want any help populating the 105 boards with nubs, just send them along. I'll solder them up, and send most of them back to you. Thanks, j.

    Mould Creation Time

So it turns out the second of my hopes was true, Craigx wasn't intimately familiar with the contract details. If you read my earlier posting, I merely stated concern about Craigx's assumption. It was not argumentative, and even supported the notion that whether the moulds were owned by OP or...

    Mould Creation Time

Wow. I hope for one of two things. Either Craigx is tweaking us for effect. Or Craigx has nothing to do with the details of the mould making agreement. If you "assume" that you own moulds from a plastic fabricator, when your contract does not specifically state that you own the moulds, then you...
