    Test the keymat!

If that does not suffice, try this (the original):

    Alive and kicking (some pictures)

Tiny nitpick: will the final version have the keyboard back-light also lighting up the right speaker grating, as it does in this picture? I wonder whether it would be a little distracting. Nice pictures overall, though!

    The magnificent seven

I suspect the black will look better with the proper plastic. Even now, I quite like it -- I like my cheap stuff to look expensive and my expensive stuff to look cheap!

    That took a while...

Assuming that developers can replace parts themselves, why not send out prototypes within a couple of weeks?

    PND Store App for Win/Linux/Mac?

You could try AppImage, without installing any new system software: http://appimage.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppImage

    Where's the Pyra wiki again?

Perhaps the Pyra Wiki is important enough to deserve a top-level menu link -- especially after some Pyras get delivered and more people have meaningful information to contribute.

    Suggestion for Linux text editor.

I am generally a vim user, but I am considering EMACS because ESCAPE-META-ALT-CONTROL-SHIFT actually seems a reasonable combination on the Pyra as it has shoulder buttons/keys.

After the Pyra, would you consider creating an open source laptop?

I want a jetpack! ... For other people to use, so I get the ground for myself.

Quite a bit for you to read!

To me, having 2 external SD card slots operational is more important than a faster eMMC, assuming it is not significantly slower than the SD cards. Would it not be rather sad to see an external slot that you cannot use?

    We've started to order things!

Awesome! I look forward to it. About 10% less thick?

Quite a bit for you to read!

For those, like me, not familiar with IRC, and not particularly keen to say anything or keep a window open for long periods, is there an easy way to get logs so we can see the development conversations?

    We've started to order things!

I think it is good that @m@t asks questions, as I like some of the answers -- but he could avoid the distracting comments about his tone by moderating a little. It may be too late now, though, as some may be searching for "anger" in his posts, even if it is not truly there.

Why so many of us have become Marxists: Video

According to Thomas Piketty and others, the only political circumstance that ever led to a thriving middle class was around 35 years of war, economic turmoil, revolution and general crisis starting in or before 1914, plus the 20-30 years of recovery that followed it -- partly because the wealth...

Why so many of us have become Marxists: Video

My pedantry compels me to point out that socialists tend to use "private property" synonymously to "immovable property" or "real property", i.e. land, large machinery, "the means of production" and so on, as opposed to "personal property" such as your clothes, your Pyra, your food and so on...

Planet Computers : Gemini - Psion Returns

Is there really a trend to (in my opinion) truly worthwhile/usable mobile computing, or have I only been paying attention recently? It seems that the Pandora may have been too early and that the Pyra may be just late enough be lost in the crowd rather than "ahead of the curve". That is life, I...

    Preparing for a Prototype

These are probably unreasonable (I would not do them), but: dropping the Pyra from waist height (I have managed to let my Pandora fall from a desk, twice, and it has survived), using it in the rain and leaving it out in the sun (open and closed). More reasonably: playing Quake, Duke Nukem 3D...

How will MIDI files sound on the Pyra?

Have you considered using a module file? It seems essentially like MIDI, but with the samples/instruments included in the file to ensure identical playback on most machines. This type of music was used in the games Deus Ex, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Tyrian and Star Control 2 (The Ur-Quan...

    FAKE: a weird programming language

I too have made a little toy language, though more FORTH-like and low level than ible's seems (and so, likely, more buggy): https://github.com/haraldur-tristan-gunnarsson/henceforth The most obvious major difference from standard FORTH is the deliberate lack of non-immediate words and of...
