    A possible PND-system replacement

with multi app pnds and pxml all the data is on one file but with this concept multiple desktop files would need to be parsed.

    A possible PND-system replacement

There are going to be executables in the zip? I thought the zip was for meta data and the application and it's data in the iso or squashfs archive?

    A possible PND-system replacement

Would the meta data on the desktop file be able to things such as associating file types like the pxml does? And how well would a flat config style meta data list handle that? xml and json are both excellent for cross platform and cross language data transfer/storage especially with all the...

    A possible PND-system replacement

For example which ever way you do it, it should be pretty easy to update PndAid to get access to the information it needs... assuming your little project was taken on as the defacto format for the Pyra. Afaik this is not how it works anyway, the PXML is only for the meta data not pnd detection.

    A possible PND-system replacement

Yeah it's nice being able to write it easy but when it comes to parsing that data that's a different story. Anyway I'm not that bothered which way he does it I was just thinking ease of use for developers to take advantage of gathering the meta data, not just users or the packager.

    A possible PND-system replacement

There can be tools made to generate pxml, foxblock wrote one and an online one could be done too.

    A possible PND-system replacement

It allows for nested data like multi language title, description collections as well as things like collections of screenshots locations. It's much better to have the flexibility of a format that is easy to work with and not hard to create, than it is write a new parser with every different...

    A possible PND-system replacement

Because json or xml has more support in more languages than the dot desktop file so it's win win for developers.

    Release Hase - Prototype two

The server side stuff may have been better to use nodejs as its asynchronous approach is really fast. But well done with your idea and thinking of a cool way to make it work.

Rethinking PNDs and standard packaging approach

I'm sure mini menu could be amended to allow slideshow of preview pics. If u think about devices like PSP 3ds psvita they all contain image meta data for when browsing your game collection on the device without an internet connection.

Rethinking PNDs and standard packaging approach

Maybe preview videos don't belong in the pnd but in the repository as separate entities which GUI package managers can handle that way the pnd is not inflated when it isn't needed to be.
