Pricing has a large psychological effect on consumers. Making the price over $100 just sounds very intimidating. Now $75 sounds like such a bargain, even though it's only $25 less. Anyway, I don't think these casual gamers that GP is trying to target would pay that much for a handheld.
They should change nothing that bumps the price up to over $100. Otherwise if they add a dpad and a 320x240 screen at such a price, you might as well get the XGP Mini. So I would ask them if it would be cheaper to use a dpad/digital joystick instead of the analog.
Edit: They should change the...
But think of it. Why would anyone (except Sony) sell something that comes at a complete loss to them? If GP makes just enough GPKids's and are able to sell and profit from them, THAT would make the other handhelds cheaper, maybe.
And Alex, I'm most likely getting an GPKids. I won't get it...
Epicenter, tell me what to say to GP and I'll say it. Maybe if they see *2* people asking for the same things they will feel overwhelmed. Power in numbers!
We will probably know nothing about the beta testers : (
And yeah, pretty much the same specs as the GP32 (I think), except for the 2 MB NOR Flash memory, as opposed to 512 kb ROM on the GP32. Also, GP said that the screen is much better than the GP32's.
Like someone said earlier (I forgot who sorry), it doesn't make sense that they could just not sell the GPKids and drop the price of another handheld. They sell the handhelds to make a PROFIT.
Yeah, pink is pimp. The only thing I don't like about the white one is the lettering. It's too flashy I guess.
*waits for DaveC to post about the analog joystick and small resolution*
Wow, that brochure really shows off how much ambition Gamepark has. At least at this point, it looks like they aren't showing any signs of future neglect for their handhelds, since they themselves are working on publicizing them. And at least they are taking the time to find some devs willing...
Well you can't just say the GP2X is automatically better than the XGP just because it has lots of homebrew on it already. And there has been many systems in the past that were similar but both of them had communities of their own: NES and SMS, C64 and ZX Spectrum, Amiga and Atari ST, PC and...
Ok, DaveC, we get it. You don't like new technology. You don't like the XGP's. You are insecure about things that can fragment your GP2X community. You are worried that the MAME update that will let you play some random game won't come out because the XGP will steal that developer away. Oh...
Ok, so say GP changed the screen to 320x240 and the batteries to AA, what are you going to do? For YOU (disregarding any technology that does not relate to emulation), it would pretty much be like buying a GP2X again but with a D-pad.
