Well, I thought I was already cautious by adding "current", so don't know why you brought up the Raspberry Pi but apparently I also need to add "viable" to limit it to any cooling that would actually fit in the Pyra.
I feel like it should be mentioned with what Zogzog and elvissteinjr said that any current SoC will throttle whether there is a fan or not. It will just throttle a few seconds later or (with intermittent load) cool down faster in-between but if you envision a program (let's face it: games) that...
Might as well put a closer in. PC Gamer wrote up a summary the other day of how Daikatana 1.3 came to be: http://www.pcgamer.com/meet-the-superfans-who-spent-a-decade-bringing-daikatana-back-to-life/
There was also a video series two years ago already that I forgot about, from Double Fine...
Link writes Open Pyra <_< and the shoppe has been "Under Construction" for like a year now, I really wish I could give the link to people soon but not in this state.
zmatt: I would not worry about the design, I'm guessing at least 90 % would be stationary use.
rv6502-2: I don't see the use for the first two options but the third would be rad!
Of course copying to or from SD or eMMC will not be better than the USB 3 port but what if in my case I often copy...
I liked the last tweet from both Thinkpad and TrashyMG because they are both right.
What Thinkpad is missing (besides that work on this happens in parallel and isn't taking away time from Pyra development) is that two high-speed ports are simply better than one. Copying stuff to or from a HDD...
It was #947 that came an hour after the deadline, #946 was two hours before.
Edit: Actually, it says you posted at 11:30 PM, so you got your times mixed up.
levi: Not trusting the official number is one thing (I believe the 900 pre-orders is slightly off as well, there have not been any cancellations in a while), pretending not to know of it in your first question is another. Please don't do that, it could be interpreted as deliberately directed...
900 have been reached. Together with the yet to convert 50 pre-pre-orders, that's the 950 EvilDragon mentioned he needs for the first 1000 batch production. Next goal: 1500. Only after those are reached for the next 1000 batch, will the Pyra be available in the store.
