Game theory: What does it mean for a game to be fun to lose.

Depending on the game, it can make it more exciting actually. If the gameplay itself is engaging, then it doesn't matter having to redo the same parts some number of times, the player is still enjoying it. In fact, having the threat of loosing always there makes the whole experience all the...

    2G phase out

I'm not 100% sure, but some light reading on the internet suggests that circuit switched services (voice, SMS) can also work in 3G networks in similar fashion as they did for 2G networks. The question that remains is if this is widely implemented. I don't remember seeing 3G phones switch down...

I was thinking of that 3D printer project where the funds were deposited to a personal account of a member and then the funds went puff for various reasons.

    General questions thread

But as you said, that installer is specific to the Amiga. Windows has it's own installer system and so does MacOS. The thing is that with Linux distributions is that there are tons of them, so it becomes difficult to make an autoinstaller which works for all of them. Typically when there is...

Wait a minute, if the KS campaign is registered to Lola and PGS LAB LLC, does that mean that the money from the campaign would be deposited on her (or PGS LAB LLC which she controls) bank account? Oh boy... o_O

    Tweaking and Finalizing

It's also x86, so it requires an emulator like qemu or Exagear. When runnning with wine it uses OpenGL as well, so glshim will probably be needed. I've been wanting to try it on Pandora, but kinda got stuck getting glshim to work from inside Exagear. That was many months ago though, I wanna try...

    Release ISO Optical Drive

Yep, doing that works just fine. Create an empty sparse file 1G in size: truncate -s 1G disk.img NOTE: sparse files don't take space until they are filled with data, pretty useful feature Change the mountisodrive.sh script of the ISO Optical Drive to and remove the cdrom parameter: modprobe...

Also I don't see how they expect a to get a partner to do all the heavy work for them. I mean, what does PGS Lab has to offer to that partner? PCB design? Nope, don't have that Case design? They have a 3D model, but probably not functional. No telling if a working PCB can even fit in there...

The Voyo V3 mini PC is same or more expensive as the intended price of the PGS. And that's without including: Screens Battery Controls Extra costs due to more compact PCB design Uhm, yeah. :|

Someone ought to make a Kickstarter parody site: Everyone is welcome to post their most outrageous vaporware projects, so long as it "looks legit" ;) Backers pledge "internets", "cookies", etc instead of real money xD

    BB Code syntax+ftplugin for VIM

Not trying to impose or anything. Setting up the plugin for pathogen is easy: Create some git repo (say on github) Commit the syntax/bbcode.vim and ftplugin/bbcode.vim files into git repo. Maybe also add a README.md file with the install instructions. That's it. :) I guess it's a bit fiddly...

    BB Code syntax+ftplugin for VIM

Do you understand how pathogen helps now? ;) Assuming pathogen is properly setup, the first install would be like: cd ~/.vim/bundle git clone <repo URL> Updating would be like: cd ~/.vim/bundle/<repo name> git pull origin

    Phone Calls and Upgrades?

For carrier compatibility this site has pretty complete info: https://www.frequencycheck.com/ The Pyra modem is compatible with: PLS8-E: Penta Band LTE: 800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz; FDD-Band (20,8,3,7,1); Tri Band UMTS (WCDMA): 900/1800/2100 MHz; FDD-Band (8,3,1); Dual Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE...

    News from all fronts

Hmm, but does the "swizzling" happen when the framebuffer is written to or when it is read from? I think it would be best if it happened when the buffer is read to display data to screen, so that existing programs/X server need no modification to work with it.

Help with a port of a C++ demo

gdb stops running when the program being debugged segfaults, so it seems as if the program is frozen but gdb is actually waiting for a command. I imagine that in Pandora you can't switch back to the terminal gdb is running in and type "backtrace" to get the backtrace. So instead create a gdb...

Disabling low power/power management while audio recording

Change the temporary files directory: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/directories_preferences.html On Pandora Audacity PND it defaults to /var/tmp/audacity-user, but /var/tmp/ is a RAM filesystem so it only has around 250MB free. So your recording is probably stopping when that gets full.

Progress of DirectX 11 in WINE

Simple: From my point of view, MS has zero ethics. So why should I care about what's ethical for MS? I frankly believe that the world would be a better place without MS in it. Or if MS was radically different and didn't pull off all the BS the did/do/will continue doing. Since I can't travel to...
