    PSP Big Battery Mod

Indeed I do. Not often, but after 14 years in and out of the GP32X/Pandora/Pyra forums, I can't quite quit this place. The pics from my first post should give you enough of an idea what goes where. There are only two sets of connections - the two wires going from the battery to the battery...

    RetroEngine Sigma - Interested?

FYI - RetrOrangePi released version 3.0 a couple days ago. Hopefully they've sorted out their issues. If you don't care what the case looks like, you can get an orange pi lite with a case, power supply, and microSD card for $25. Add the USB gamepad of your choice and the retroorangepi image...

AP40, Old School Apple inspired controller from 8Bitdo

$380 HKD is $49 in USD. Considering the NES30 Pro is $43 on amazon, you're only paying a couple extra bucks for the fancy paint scheme, tablet stand, and BT-to-serial dongle. IMO, the NES30 pro is the best BT gamepad you can get for any money. Highly recommended for emulation purposes.

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Man, this thread really went off the rails in the last couple days. There's costs, and then there are costs. Actually producing the chips is (relatively) cheap, but they're sold for practically nothing. Intel probably doesn't make much per sale - heck, they might even lose a buck or two...

    PSP Big Battery Mod

I've never managed to get it below ~30%, even with more than a week between charges. Granted I don't sit and play for hours upon hours at a time, but I would definitely say that 10hrs is a safe minimum estimate.

I linked to the battery I used above, but here it is again: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-7V-3000-mAh-Polymer-Li-ion-battery-LiPo-For-GPS-Power-bank-Tablet-PC-6050105-/181731582459

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

The last several weeks I've been playing a game called "homelab admin". In this game, you buy a bunch of 2nd hand enterprise-grade gear on ebay, and try to get it working with no formal training or prior experience. There's only one boss, but you fight her several times - first about how much...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Easy enough. PGS: We want to make this super-powerful handheld and sell it for an impossibly low price! Shady "Investor": What a great idea! Tell you what, you go ahead and raise as much money as you can on kickstarter, and I'll make up the difference. PGS: Yay! (30 days later, KS campaign...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Likely more than that for gaming. In addition to the small CPU speed increase, you also get 33% more EUs in the GPU. That's going to have much bigger impact on game performance than an extra ~150MHz. But again, more EUs means more power usage and more heat. I still maintain that they could...

    PSP Big Battery Mod

Well, you can get a used PSP 1000 on ebay for less than $50, and it's actually a pretty decent emulation system. It struggles with SNES until you crank up the frameskip, but it's better than anything else in that price range. Plus, native PSX and PSP games.

    PSP Big Battery Mod

I dug up my PSP a couple days ago and was disappointed that the battery was pretty much shot. Not wanting to dish out for a proper Sony battery, and having had awful luck with chinese knockoffs, I decided to modify the case to accept a much bigger LiPo cell. Unfortunately, I didn't think to...

Just to make sure it's dead (WiiU)

There's a 4-port GC controller adapter that isn't that expensive. Alternately, 3rd parties are making GC-style controllers that work with the wiiu's native controller ports if you don't have GC controllers lying around already.

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

It's fixed. The only real sticking point had been audio over HDMI (which is a dealbreaker for stick/STB devices), but that's been resolved. All of the built-in functionality in the cherry trail chips is now supported. Extra stuff (touchscreen, gaming controls, wireless radios) is still up to...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Maybe because it was a lot of effort for very little improvement over simply throwing cores at a wafer and seeing what sticks. TI and Ericsson spent a ton of money developing the equivalent of a Merc S-class and charged S-class money for them. But most people are more than happy with a Toyota...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

In the handheld SoC market? There are effectively two: ARM and Intel. OK, so there's technically MIPS, AMD, and VIA, but they're so far out of the running that they don't really count as players. All the dozens of ARM chipmakers just license the cores from ARM (plus GPU IP owners), and they...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

So there will be a minimum of eight different "hardcore" configurations - titanium/regular case, US/EU 4G, e-ink/LCD display. The case and modem would be relatively easy to swap, but I'm pretty sure e-ink and LCD displays have completely different interfaces. Do they plan on doing two separate...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

The cherry trail atoms are 2W parts, and as we're seeing with the GPD win, that's pretty much the limit for power consumption and heat dissipation that you can manage in a pocketable device. AMD's most efficient mobile SoCs are currently about double that. It's going to take a miracle for them...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Option 3 PGS: Hey Intel, can we buy some of your chips? Intel: Uh, sure... Selling chips is our job, so why not? PGS: Can we have some datasheets and stuff? Intel: Of course. It's all available on our website. You don't even have to ask. PGS: Hey everybody! Intel is "working with us"!!! If...

Definitely not. They only had the first 5 (almost certainly hand-built) prototypes done a couple days ago. There's no way they can do all the testing that needs to be done, make adjustments to fix the problems they will surely find, tool up for production, acquire components, manufacture, box...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Hey, be nice to teenage Russian Jimmy Carr. I have a new theory that explains all of this silliness. The PGS "team" consists of one or more Russian trust-fund-kids. The "backers" are their parents. The shady and unrealistic nature of this campaign is because (A) they're spoiled and have no...
