    Actual specs?

Memory can be turned off when not in use, so battery life shouldn't be affected much... going to 8 GB just means you'd need to power 2 GB if you were using <2 GB (assuming 4 chips) instead of powering 512 MB for <512 MB. Unless I'm missing something... 2 GB isn't very much. I plan to mainly use...

    The Pyra is crying!

Never really got an answer on whether memory hotplug is possible to support...?

    The Pyra is crying!

Consider also, from those numbers, that just the basic KDE desktop playing music and checking email, needs >2 GB...

    The Pyra is crying!

No, I run 32-bit Linux (with a 64-bit kernel to handle the physical memory).I don't do any graphics work, and due to shared memory I can't even be certain what uses so much, but I suspect Chromium is the biggest offender. I use 10-20 virtual desktops, with multiple browser windows on some and...

    The Pyra is crying!

4 GB is far too little for primary computing device IMO.My desktop has 16 GB and I'm constantly swapping it to 24-25 GB. Maybe 2 GB will be sufficient for my intended use (VNC + minimal local stuff like Uber), but the more the better IMO...

    The Pyra is crying!

Linux supports memory hotplug - is it possible to get this working for the Pyra maybe? I'd go for the premium model too, but I'd really like to see the RAM upgraded on it... if memory hotplug is workable, 8 GB would be ideal :)

Camera Questions - For the people that want a camera.

I doubt anyone wants the volume wheel removed - it's just less of a loss than the camera.

    Should Pyra have a Camera?

IMO it's far more likely someone will be "pushed away" by the lack of a camera (a standard feature), than by a bit more on the price.

    Is Pyra expensive outdated hardware?

Just how free will the Pyra be, by the way? Is there a post on this? For example, can I just take a case-design file, modify it to hold a camera, and 3D print it?

Camera Questions - For the people that want a camera.

But it doesn't even rotate! Too thin is bad. Makes it delicate :( How about having it pop out on the left/right and rotate to face either forward/backward direction? It's got more space than a typical smartphone, yet less features... :| The lid should ideally have this space regardless of...

    Devuan, anyone?

Devuan would be my second choice (after Gentoo).

    Is Pyra expensive outdated hardware?

    Wait, does this exist? :o

    Is Pyra expensive outdated hardware?

Maybe the ideal solution is to pick an Android phone with good specs, good open source/mainline Linux support, no stupid firmware lockdown, and build a custom case+keyboard for it... then just install a sane OS instead of Android.

No prototypes for GamesCom, but a Wifi Chip and a Pyra in the dark!

Well, depends on if we're tied to a specific brand/product line for the 4G chip... Qualcomm MDM9625M seems to support pretty much everything possible? (and is the only chipset I'm aware of that works with Google's cellular service here in the US...)

    Should Pyra have a Camera?

If we're limited to one, I would suggest a spring-loaded/pop-up camera in the top of the display that can be rotated to face either direction ;) (this also takes care of privacy/security concerns)

No prototypes for GamesCom, but a Wifi Chip and a Pyra in the dark!

I suppose it's not a "huge flaw" that Ctrl-C/V/etc are impractical with the Ctrl key in the middle?

    Should Pyra have a Camera?

Huh? I don't plan to use my Pyra at home - I have a real PC there. The use case is when we're not at home, and I can't leave cameras "lying around", nor do I want to have to be careful not to lose a tiny USB camera that doesn't properly fit in my pocket without breaking in the first place... No...

No prototypes for GamesCom, but a Wifi Chip and a Pyra in the dark!

Are all the keys remappable? Including the power/brightness ones? How about the directional devices? It's not bad, but I like flexibility. :)

    Should Pyra have a Camera?

Who said it needs to be "quality"? I just want to be able to snap pictures of my children randomly...

    Should Pyra have a Camera?

Any external camera is going to be clumsy to carry around in your pocket with the Pyra. Also, my goals for a camera is more of "digital camera replacement", not "phone replacement"... Doesn't have to be "first-party" though - perhaps someone could just throw a USB3 hub + 8 MP camera in a extra...
