    free PC games (steam)

I've got a code to get one of the games listed here for free: https://www.greenmangaming.com/summer-sale/free-games/gold/ I don't want any of them, though, so I might as well offer them up here. The list really isn't amazing, I know. My code expires by 10:59 UTC, 07 Aug, 2019, so better say...

    Pandora LUA Game Engine

iirc the SDL 1 libraries on the Pandora were highly optimized for the hardware. This is still software rendering with SDL2, right? Basic optimization such as using the right surface format apply of course, but I wouldn't know how big the expected performance difference on a vanilla SDL2 should...

Even more to see here (now)

EvilDragon stated in the last post that you'll receive an email when it's time to complete your order. You should be fine as long as you still use the same email address.

Even more to see here (now)

Pre-pre order units (first 200) are numbered, that's why they're held back if you don't complete the full order. All other pre-order units are a commodity and just go to the first one finishing their full order (after invited to do so of course).

Have LEDs been added for that at some point? Since that was not the case for the unit and main board showcased at last year's Gamescom. I know that Pyra was far from the current revision at the time, but not sure about the board. Unless you mean it does light up purely from reflection of the...

Even more to see here (now)

Just looked at the 3D photos (using a Valve Index) and whew, these actually look really good! The depth is a bit odd in DSCF4087 with the thingy on the left side and seems to be inverted entirely on DSCF4116. The rest is fine though. I've used a Pyra a couple of times before, but these closeups...

The new top shoulder buttons are not rippled anymore? Guess it's not necessary to know which one you're touching now, but I liked that detail. Also thanks for 3D photos. I'll check them out later on my headset!

    Nintendo Switch

A Switch that doesn't switch. Next thing they make a 3DS that doesn't... oh. While most of my time spent on the Switch is indeed in handheld mode, there's no way I'd sacrifice TV mode or HD rumble (it seems so insignificant but is really nice when done right). Local multiplayer gets rarer these...

    PC games recommendations 2019

I've recently gotten into the Yakuza series, now that we got PC ports of some titles. I've beaten Yakuza 0 a while ago, but there's still so much to do on the side, so I'm still not really done. Good port, had no issues or crashes at all. Fantastic game as well. Manages to have a serious story...

Ubuntu is phasing out i386 (32bit) libraries altogether

As someone who's purposefully stayed away from snaps and stuff... can I get an explanation how they would solve anything? The libraries inside there still have to be maintained or else you could just run some third-party solution providing the libraries instead.

Ubuntu is phasing out i386 (32bit) libraries altogether

I wonder how many games on Steam only ship with 32-bit Linux binaries... A couple of titles in my Humble Bundle have no indication of architecture on their Linux downloads so they may not be 64-bit. Though perhaps that's not much of an issue with Steam Runtime stuff? Not sure. I honestly don't...

    Shenmue 3 Epic gamestore exclusive

Backer perks for PC were Steam keys (likely not technically legally binding, but still)... and if you go that way for money you clearly didn't need the Kickstarter. I don't even care about valid arguments for the Epic Games Store anymore. Everything surrounding that thing is icky and shady as...

Wanting someone to update Beebdroid. Money waiting :)

Eclipse JNI stuff is pretty much not supported anymore I'd say. At least not with recent SDKs/NDKs, which on the other hand you want in order to debug properly on your modern Android device. Android Studio has full NDK support these days and supports importing Eclipse projects. I wouldn't say...

Oculus Quest - All-in-one virtual reality

The PC-end is in regards of Oculus software for PC. It's the companies' practices in the PCVR space that bug me among other things. This extends to purchasing Quest titles meaning you also own the PC version, but one that works with Oculus branded headsets. Why I want to use tether? This is for...

Oculus Quest - All-in-one virtual reality

VRidge is using a compressed video stream over USB or Wifi, with additional latency and also lower frame rate it seems. Consumer wireless options of PC headsets use 60 GHZ wifi with PCIe cards and funky antennas for a reason. There's no DisplayPort out on that USB connector on the Quest. Oculus...

Oculus Quest - All-in-one virtual reality

I love VR and the average folk's probably gonna like this and drive some VR adoption. But this doesn't change the fact that you'll always want to throw as much performance as possible at VR to get the best experience out of it. Can't see myself ever getting a mobile VR device, unless it...

    Future of the CPU board?

That iMX8M has been brought up multiple times as it likely ticks enough boxes to actually an usable SoC. The thing is that apart from having more modern APIs and architecture available on it, the actual performance boost would be rather small or it might even be slower depending on the...

    What have you bought recently?

I've pre-ordered a Valve Index Headset + Controllers the other day when the pre-orders went live. It's gonna replace my almost 3 year old Vive... which is still younger than my Pyra pre-pre-order. About 2 months™ to wait for this. Guess that'll arrive first as well.

Some personal stuff - and prototypes building!

Not really a fan of the glitter case. Might be the lighting though in addition to the base gray used there being too bright for my taste either way, though. Good paint could work fine in the end. I suppose you just need someone who knows what they're doing on that end, so button tolerances vs...

Some personal stuff - and prototypes building!

I mean, the prototypes I had the chance to play with over the years were alright with the thermals (though, only running at 1 GHz iirc), but reading this reminds me how I really wouldn't mind having a fan on this thing. It doesn't need to run all times, maybe not even much at all. But it sounds...
