Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

I don't think so. First the prototype have to be finished and fully tested. It would be really bad if some things wouldn't work because they couldn't be tested properly because of missing driver.

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

I think ED have two reasons to keep the 2GB Version. * The 4GB Version is not tested so no one is able to say if it works properly. It would be not so good to remove the 2GB Version now & at the mass - production there is coming a: "Sorry boys&girls. No 4GB, only 2GB" * If the only difference...

How did you find out about the Pyra/Pandora?

The first time I saw something about the pandora was a video at Youtube which I found by sheere luck. At this time the pandora was still in development. Sadly I lost track of it during the 2 month™ of development. Now I want to use the chance to get a pyra.

Preorders Have Started. (Previously named starts in two hours)

But the Pyra will show signs of wear. So he will able to sell replacement- & upgrade parts. Maybe in 5 to 10 Years there will be a *new* Pyra with a new design & Pyra compatible parts. Bur only the time will show what EvilDragon will show us next ;)

    Another little proposal: Backside logo

There mayor problem with copper is that it reflects the laser light and there is a high chance to destroy the optics. Copper-vapour isn't that healty too. Water-jet cutting, milling or etching are good ways to produce copper plates. Aluminium on the other hand could be laser cut. You need ca...

    Another little proposal: Backside logo

Like Djonga said: The aluminium plate is made to get an easy way to get a nice shining logo. A nice side effect is that only the logo is shining and the surrounding stays dark. I'm thinking about switching the aluminium plate with an matted polycarbonate plate with an small aluminium-inlay to...

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

As far I knew, a anodized surface is always glossy. If you want a matted surface, you have to paint it. But a painted surface is not scratch resistant like a anodized surface.

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

If the aluminium inlet is made of the correct material, most colors are possible. But the darker the color, the better the anodizing result. Anodized aluminium have a hard, glossy surface.

    Another little proposal: Backside logo

I only make assumptions, but i think the main reason behind the decision to use the aluminium-inlet is that the RGB-Leds shine through the case and would lead to an washed out look ofthe logo. The logo-change was to reduce the production costs. When the logo is mouldet in to the case, most...

    Another little proposal: Backside logo

To get the new pattern, there would be needed a complete new mould. I think it's to late in this stage of the project. Sharp edges at the wrong places and concave / convex surfaces are the enemy of inexpensive designs. Old design: Milled area (Eroded/ polished,... for surface finish.) New...

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

The usual way is: For cast iron, there is normaly a positive (ca. 3 to 5% larger because of shrinking during the cooling.) This is normaly a hand made positive, Then you have to make a lost mold. The cast-iron part needs to be ground and / or milled to fitt in the cavity. In the most cases you...

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

Cast-Iron in one-pice batch is realy expensive. That's the most expensive solution. A laser cut inlet made of sheet metal is much cheaper. By the way: Copper and copper aloys need to be milled, sawed or water-jet cut. They emit toxic gas and damage the optics when laser cut. Thats the reason...

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

Hi The problem is that hard edges are more expensive to produce in batch production then round edges. (At least thats the case in the small company I work.) The cheapest way is to leave the tool-radius of the end mill. If you really want to get a different logo i'ts the easiest way to get a...

Want to explain what the Pyra is?

Hi people. Sorry, my english is really bad. I was lurking around during the development of the pandora, but lost track after the two month (tm) of development. Sadly I missed the release of the pandora. I'm glad to be able to get one of the first Pyra But now to the two pyra-explanation...
