I haven't followed the N64 emulation development closely, but I had the impression that the problem is still more one of compatibility than of raw power (though lots of raw power might in the end be needed for a compatible emulation).
It would only need an initial 100 to agree on one color at 25€ each which IMO is a reasonable price (molding is only part of the total cost) and seems doable (considering the aluminium case preorder).
Yes. This already exists in some legislations and I'm not claiming it works wonders there, but it might be the basis for a creator's competitive edge. The major difference to copyright is that it cannot be sold, licensed, or whatever.
I agree (thouh the know how part extends to all forms of expression). I could imagine that an unalienable right to authorship allows the original author to profit in enough ways to be an acceptable substitute for copyright (where the original author often doesn't profit much).
The original author still has the edge in know how (not to be underestimated) and upgradeability even without any copyright protection (modifying a binary blob isn't exactly easy). I'm not saying that the world would definitively be a better place without copyright (e.g. share-alike clauses...

Since the position of the wheel represents an absolute value it is possible. Whether software support already exists i can't remember, but ED was talking about this somewhere.
