Looks like the pledges are starting to turn. They're at -22 so far today.

Interesting contrast on something. PGSLab has been steadily promising that they will produce an updated PGS that uses Apollo Lake. GPD, on the other hand, has pushed the Win to use x7-87xx, because they rightfully realize that Apollo Lake will likely not be power optimized to the extent Cedar...

    GPD XD

There's a fair amount of variation from unit to unit, but the really big factor is the sort of games you play. It's entirely possible you're just not playing games that have a lot of high contrast content.

Lola's going to matter when she finds herself in the unenviable position that Link had with iCP2. Here's the Cyrillic for Sergei Kirimov.. maybe.. Сергей Киримов Have fun :P

Well they couldn't keep up there either, they folded modem development in 2014: https://www.ericsson.com/news/1856711 But my comment about lack of modem keeping them from competing was actually about Allwinner and Rockchip, and why they have virtually or exactly 0% of the phone market...

I dunno, these and other cheap Windows tablets have very little in common with PGS.. pretty much every component there is going to be significantly cheaper including the SoC which is barely half the cost as x7-Z8750. There are so many factors that would push up their price in comparison. I also...

It's the same person, see here: http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2003-05-30/news/0305300348_1_figure-skating-extradition-russian "And I hope it will help him. I tell him it will end well. Because if you think it will be, it will be. You know, ideas can become reality." Looks like she had the...

But Allwinner and Rockchip are not dominating the phone market. They grabbed a big chunk of the tablet market a couple years ago, but that market has been in freefall since. TI, ST-Ericsson and others (to a large extent nVidia) folded out of mobile largely because they couldn't keep up with...

Not true for SoCs from Samsung, Qualcomm, Apple nVidia, and some others that use custom ARM cores. And I think you underplay the effort needed to make an SoC that uses licensed a CPU and GPU, there is still much else to be added and much work in the physical implementation is needed to make it...

Not sure if I was being totally clear. What I meant is that KS allows prototype projects, where you fund the project then they use the money to develop a prototype. The obvious difference is that those projects don't promise backers a shipped product, they just promise that they'll show the...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

Some people just don't have the experience or knowledge to be able to see the red flags in a device like this. What they see now is the hundreds of other people who backed it and that speaks loudly. PGSLab themselves may not understand the problems... I still hold KS themselves more...

I think they changed the wording at some point. Maybe this was the original intent and they updated the wording to be more in line with it. I never thought the old rule made a lot of sense. When push comes to shove, they're going to argue that they have a prototype and it's really going to come...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

I thought the rule was that you needed to show a working prototype if and only if you have photorealistic renders. Hence why they downgraded their render quality. Skarp Laser Razer could have technically run afoul of that but it was a pretty dumb application of the rule.

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

It might be worth it to some, but I'm not going to do it. That's because they aren't breaking any KS rules that I know of. They may have been earlier with their "prototype" vs the renders but they changed the renders. The only thing that could possibly get them is the fact that they did make...

What separates them from real scam artists is that when the dust settles they have no money and nothing to show for themselves but a ruined reputation and legal liability.

So the CEO made a ranting post on the comments section... (line breaks mine): I think he is right about something, and that is that people shouldn't call it a scam. Because a scam implies deliberate deception, taking money with no intent of developing or delivering anything. Unfortunately...

That may be true in a sense, and there's hardly anything wrong with having a good community manager, although I'm going to say straight up that this guy is no ED. ED has always been far more forthright, transparent, and conservative in managing expectations. But what really separates these two...

PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

One of those two guys designed and hand built one of the first home computers ever and he did it all on his own without having to sell his credentials to anyone. If PGSLab had something like a modern day Apple I to demonstrate I think people would view them differently.

Which of you $1 contributors want to spoil the backers only post talking about the team? :p Really hard to understand why they'd make this backers only when it's a big sticking point for people who are on the fence about backing. Especially after making all of the other 10 updates public. They...
