Bitbox : a small open, DIY 32 bit VGA console

I've never heard of Uzi .. very cute. There are some unix like OSes around for stm32 and ez80 and such, that port pretty easily. Can't think of names offhand - kids and Christmas has my brain rattled :) edit: NuttX is one I was thinking of - its quite something. I've been fiddling writing...

Bitbox : a small open, DIY 32 bit VGA console

oh yeah, I wanted a cartridge slot and eventually ended up with enough ram and rom space a small Linux can be made to boot :o

Bitbox : a small open, DIY 32 bit VGA console

lol the micro is crazy awesome :) I did the straight up stm32 console at one point but wanted to go the extra crazy and hence the z80 cpu -- external ram and cpu get you frame buffers which is very nice. With stm32 alone you just can't do anframebuffer so you have to either do low res or...

    (Development/Hacking/IoT) Single Board Computers

zikzak is.a sbc for last few revisions; last pcb was all header pins for jacks (vga, joystick etc) but working on a pcb update with the jacks all on-board; ordered 20 of each part so I can assemble a few for test and in case anyone happens to want one :) I am tempted to build an Arduino...

Release GINGE Update and Ruckage Pack!

hatari is clearly superior so I stopped working on outcast - its goal was to be fast and fun while sacrificing compatibility; also, floppy emulation and such was poor etc .. demos mostly fail, but good for about 70% of games. hatari is amazing.. but if you want a direct gp2x port of outcast...

    (Development/Hacking/IoT) Single Board Computers

no mention of zikzak yet? sniff ;) z80 and stm32 single board with vga :) tonnes of good low and high level sbc's around or roll your own.. if you want bare chips like stm32 or atmel or msp, or full Linux feady, all covered. Its a great time to be a hacker :)

skins crash mini menu [solved ish]

There is nothing preventing mmenu from being brought over to the Pyra, but that firmware is still wildly up in the air I think. mmenu works with standards (or should ;) jeff

skins crash mini menu [solved ish]

yeah, theres a number of things that can cause mmenu to blow up during the skin process; it was supposed to have an auto-backout solution (if it tries to load a few times in a row, in very quick succession, assume a crash and go back to no-skin mode), but I  forget if that ever got checked in. I...

    Join what has been split

It seems a shame to lose some of the identity of gp32x and its unique theme and so forth .. but at the same time, its already 'dead' in a lot of ways, so a merger may bring it more life in the long term, and better archival future and such. So.. a bit of a shame, but it seems the best future...

    Zikzak - crummiest 8bit console/computer ever .. but I'm making it!

ahright, finally got a pile of parts in the post from all around the world. PS/2 keyboard right-angle pcb-mount connectors, DC003 DC barrel jack right angles, VGA right angles, headphone right angles, etc and so on. Time to start measure all the pin layouts and package sizes, designing the...

Tournament Hub (C4A2?) Design and Plans

By 'cull', it might be wise to flag them as 'locked' and never deleted .. ie: probably the database of scores will have a sourcing user-id pointing back to user table. So just flag it as deceased. Could always manually restore an account if someone comes back two years later and wants to resume...

Tournament Hub (C4A2?) Design and Plans

okay, so you're building a server and the works, gotcha. Sorry, didn't look at your repo yet :) Do you have, or can add a few fields.. I had been planning for C4Av2 to make good use of submission data -- the submitted source (r-pi, pandora, pc, etc), and a unified game list (for that server)...

Tournament Hub (C4A2?) Design and Plans

It your purpose to be a client for C4Av2, or as a standalone launcher, or both, integrating it all together? (It matters, because if you wat to do a friends list, but also be an independant launcher, than I guess you're doing your own friends list thing; but if its more C4A oriented, we coudl...

Updated: the 2017 Interactive Fiction Competition

Let me know if I need to refresh Gargoyle.. its a few years old, that port on the repo. I still follow IF ... one of these days I need to track down all the classic Infocom (original boxes with feelies), but they're so pricey/collectible nowadays :) jeff

AY-3-8910 music files? Anyone know where to find?

The 0000 is part of the 'addressing'; the intended purpose was so they could have various manuf pick a code for the chip, and their build of the chip would only answer with ABCD???? type address.. but in practice, only code 0000 was ever made I think. My pcb design definately works .. I've put...

AY-3-8910 music files? Anyone know where to find?

Brain melt .. looked through about 8 or 9 file formats in last hour..  so many 'tracker' style (samples and sequences), not useful; stuff like .AY from Sinclair .. is z80 code that generates music on an AY chip. I'm really surprised its hard to find raw logged AY register dumps, but every few...
