Information about OS / Kernel / Prototypes

When you found the unit in this state was just the power button still glowing red but the unit itself fully unresponsive? I have had that happen a few times too, but have not been able to catch it doing this when connected to serial output. I had figured it was related to the battery charging...

    Aggressive prompting for push notifications?

The net 'feeling' of these annoyances combined is likely greater to me than the average user? I connect from: Chrome on Windows, Chrome on X86 Linux, Firefox on X86 Linux, Chromium on Pyra, FireFox on Pyra, Chrome on four Android devices, and Chrome on a Chromebook. To top it off I...

What’s the largest SD card the Pandora supports?

You are correct and my brain is gone or there are too many file systems to keep track of these days. Big cards are exfat. The Pyra prototype has an F2FS on the microSDXC card that I had been using internally. Wires crossed.

What’s the largest SD card the Pandora supports?

I used a 256GB card in my Pandora regularly. The catch is that you'll need to reformat the card to get the best use out of it. From the store the large cap cards are F2FS.

Pyra news partially stale from the dragon's mouth

Alright - looking forward to this. Is he working his way down a list or? From my random stumbling around, things are already mostly better than I'd feared. Do we know what area / functionality hes going to be concentrating on next? Battery/charging? Media playback (H.264)? Other?

    Aggressive prompting for push notifications?

At the bottom of my screen right now: Official Pyra and Pandora Site would like your permission to enable push notifications. ((This X is all the way over on the right and so grey as to barely be readable)) X Click the purposely faint X and: We strongly recommend enabling push notifications on...

    Aggressive prompting for push notifications?

System seems to be making a strong attempt to encourage users to accept push notifications. IMHO any site asking for browser notifications permission is simply wrong to begin with. I was rather shocked to see it happening here. Usually it's just the highly commercialized or skeezy sites that...

    Preparing for a Prototype

From what I can tell, right now there are three important pieces missing to the Pyra puzzle. Charging management & controls, Video drivers (H.264 & 3D), and audio drivers & controls. Is there anything that the prototype owners can do to help test or provide input toward any of these three?

    Kensington lock

@comradekingu This thread is in the Pyra prototype bug tracker section. Can you show us a picture of the issue you are having with your Pyra prototype?

    Kensington lock

You have a prototype then? I do not think it was ever intended to be a Kensington lock port. Just a wrist lanyard strap. What are you talking about hanging it from someones neck?

New website for all retrogame handheld devices

I seem to recall -this- forum as having a rule something akin to 'No links to ROM/firmware download sites'.

Finding software opportunities and common ground

What is the best browser for any individual to use ongoing and what browser is best to include as a default or stock are quite possibly different browsers. Two distinctly different sets of criteria and one glaring restriction. Lucky us the Pyra can ship with either of two publicly known...

Finding software opportunities and common ground

Chromium as downloaded from Synaptic works quite well on the Pyra prototype. Frankly, the only drawback to it that is that it isn't Chrome. Why? Because Chrome on Linux means being able to watch Netflix and Hulu. We all seem to be in agreement that the Pyra must ship with a web browser...

Finding software opportunities and common ground

To the two alternative browsers suggested: Tor web browser is based on Firefox. Keep it simple and ship with Firefox. or Vivaldi browser is based on Chromium. Keep it simple and ship with Chromium. Nothing is going to stop you from uninstalling either and installing the obscure browser of...

    Improved promotional media

Likely not to the quality of photography you want, but did you see any of the other ones I took of my prototype or just the one picture in the debug thread? https://pyra-handheld.com/boards/threads/preparing-for-a-prototype.76956/page-23

    Improved promotional media

There are lots of other pictures of the keys though. That picture you keep going back to was purposely done only to show that I had Hostile Takeover running.

    Improved promotional media

Correction. I wanted it out of ED's bug report thread. I suspect @DoodleMonger might not understand what they are looking at. The above photo is of a -prototype-. These are not final units. Going through making promotional images would be very premature. The pictures I took and take of my...

Information about OS / Kernel / Prototypes

I am normally not opposed to threads flowing where they may. In this particular case, though, maybe critique of and suggestions for improving by photographic skills should be spun off somewhere other than the bug tracking thread?
