Hello, more technical woes here. Firstly I have a new Motherboard/ Cpu/ Ram and GPU. Its all nicely plugged in, the Graphics card is in its PCI-E slow, it has two power cables going in. Also there is a cable going into the board (I have no idea why but there is a slot). However when I turn the pc on all that happens is the fan spins and the hard drive feels like its doing something (it may be, it may just be gently vibrating - not much noise). Anyways nothing is coming up on screen at all, its just blank. Its not even giving the 'no signal' error. Anyways I have these:
- AMD Athlon XP 3000 (Well i bought as bundle: F1 x Foxconn socket 939 bundle with NF4K8AC-RS motherboard and Athlon 64 3000+ CPU and Foxconn CMAK82BX-C CPU Cooler)
- Geforce 6800 GS
- 1 gig DDR ram
- 550w PSU (its 450 or 550).

Anyways any ideas?

when it dosnt even beep its either the board or the cpu.
try removeing all cards and drives, if it beeps than start re adding stuff.
maybe remove some of the ram as well.

I've seen that countless times when the board's shorting out on the case. Make sure you put the metal spacers in place *only* under the screwholes on the motherboard.

You should actually assemble the whole lot outside the case on a sheet of cardboard, or something non-conductive (the motherboard box works well). Connect the power cable, one stick of RAM, CPU/heatsink (make sure you plug the fan connector into the right place on the motherboard and use thermal paste/pad) and graphics card (hooked up to the monitor) ONLY, then short out the pins that you'd normally hook the power switch up to with a screwdriver. It won't boot (no hard disk!), but you should at least get the POST info on screen.

I start every fresh build like that, it helps find out if something's defective without hooking everything up inside the case :)

Its alright now, there was something coming out of the PSU which looked like it could go on the motherboard, put it in and worked. Now I just need to reinstall windows as its giving the BSOD. :(

One problem after another, gah; Whilst playing KOTOR 2 the power suddenly went. Wouldnt come back on, after some testing it still comes on if the power lead to the Geforce 6800 GS isnt in.

Gah, is the card dead?!
