Success! I have serial access to my gp2x and I have compiled the usb audio driver from the kernel source. I plugged the mic into the dev board and loaded the usb audio driver.
So it seems possible to get audio capture on the gp2x. Everything at the system level is available, we just need the...
I received the microphone and serial cable today. After plugging the mic into my linux laptop I can see that it is just a standard usb audio device (the snd-usb-audio module was loaded).
I've set up my dev board and connected it to my laptop through the serial cable but so far nothing has come...
Thanks for that. I just got one for $45 (aussie dollars). It should be here in a few days. I should be getting another AC adaptor around then as well.
I haven't done any kernel work on the GP2X before but I have done a little on the desktop. Hopefully I will have something interesting to post...
Yes, that would work. It just wouldn't be very portable. All you would need is the usb sound module and some software to do the recording.
I have just received a dev board but I don't have any usb audio devices. If anyone can recommend a cheap device that works on linux desktops then I can look...
A lot of these types of devices are supported by linux using a generic usb audio module. I don't know if usb audio has been compiled into the gp2x kernel. Probably not I'd say. It wouldn't be too hard to compile a new one though.
The major problem is that these devices are usually powered by...
You would probably have an easier time packaging Mono for the GP2X. It already has JIT for ARM linux. IKVM will let you run Java on Mono.
Personally I'm considering using Lua for the high-level stuff.
Here you go. Get cracking, I expect a Dreamcast emulator by next week!
Seriously though, if you study every night and read the book and the SDL documentation you may be able to create Pong in a month or two. Game programming is one of the hardest fields (emulators are even harder) and it can...
There's two advantages you can get over sourceforge:
Allowing closed-source developers to have a website, mailing lists and file repository. So long as it is for the gp2x/gp32 and they can't remove the binary from the site (so it will always be available).
Subversion!
Hmmm... turning the sound off seems to remove the pauses. Also with the sound on there can be occasional channel switches (firing sound moving from left to right). There is something going on with SDL_mixer that is causing these latency issues.
If the SDL_mixer stuff can be improved or a...
Hello SirDzstic. It looks like a good start. I have a few suggestions:
L button goes back to the parent directory. That's good, but to be more consistent have R button go into the selected file/directory. Then we have a nice left/right action for file browsing.
The stick click should do that...
SDL_gfx also has a simple font and some basic routines if you just need something done quick. It cross-compiles to ARM just fine (just add --disable-mmx when running configure).
I'm working on a library to make it easier for programmers to use different configurations for the GP2X stick. With a simple call you should be able to get 2, 4, 8 and 16-way sticks. You also get various options for tweaking the stick configuration.
I may also be doing joystick emulation if it...
