So, If I've filled out the survey - should I have gotten a response from EvilDragon ?
I doubt I got in the first batch of upgrades, since Craig missed me the first time around...
What I'd do is this:
Build a motherboard that is mechanically compatible with a common Netbook layout.
Pegatron / MSI / Gigabyte
Then just order a bunch more plastic cases from the usual sources + LCDs and assorted other common parts.
However, you just be jumping into a pool of hungry...
Does anyone know what parts are now near or at "EOL" ?
(e.g. unavailable from manufacturer / discontinued or in limited supply with no chance of new production)
My guess would be the Main CPU + PoP-RAM (OMAP 3500 Series is getting quite outdated now...)
Or equally likely is the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth...
I just realized this will wipe out the GP2X - totally.
The Pandora is better in every way AND runs (100% ?) of GP2X software.
(and with a solid D-Pad to boot!)
This is just like having a SNES run the complete NES library.
(hey the 65C816 is really just a beefed up 65C08)
Cept its runs MANY times faster! (and more RAM!)
G.I.N.G.E - Like W.I.N.E but redder... ;)
Honestly where did this Volley of B.S. come from ?
ANDROID is a SMART PHONE PLATFORM
Where does this fit into the concept that is MID / Micro-Laptop (the Pandora).
AFAIK ANDROID as an OS does LESS than our default Angstrom OS.
And if I really REALLY want to run some awful shovel-ware ANDROID...
Indeed this is using the Pandora in the same fashion as some DS games that can broadcast a compact version to other NDS clients.
Its quite unclear if there is the needed knowledge/software for the Server part.
So the Pandora, having approx. 10 (100?) time the computing power and capability of a NDS - has few if any peers in handheld consoles.
(PSP ? Whats that? Seriously I don't even see these in the wild anymore...)
Yet everyone else, being stuck with the outmoded and underpowered NDS can't get in...
Nice,
Scorched Earth: The Mother of all Games!
very worthwhile port - and a good homage to the original.
Hmmm, but.
Considering how many (few) Pandora's are out in the wild - it would be great to have some kind of game that works across platforms.
What about this concept:
A Pandora serves...
As I recall, you can infact create a compressed loopback filesystem (backed with a file).
Then mount the FS on that compressed loop device.
Its called 'cloop' (never used it myself - plain 'ol RAM back loopbacks are STUPIDLY fast... anyways)
Also - does the Pandora use FS labels?
e.g...
I for one would welcome clone systems. No way would anyone produce such a well thought out case;
All the clones would be crappy Smartphone layouts with crappy low-resolution touchscreens...
Would make the Pandora seem special. (unless the cloner put a Cortex-A9 CPU in there instead...)...
I think the naysayers are running out of bad things so say about the Pandora.
At least until they have one, to be sure of what to complain about.
Also Good to know the Pandora is A Tough little box!
