    Pyra versus Pinephone Pro

I have just ordered a PinePhone with Convergence Package (later, when I receive it, I will order keyboard plus accessories). So soon I will test and enjoy or suffer it :)

    Pyra versus Pinephone Pro

For PinePhone (PP) or PinePhone Pro (PPP) there is a keyboard converting phone on a miniaturized notebook like Pyra. But I think it is worse from physical design: PP with keyboard (PP+K) is too much big to type while moving. When moving you use these pocket computers holding them with both hands...

    Finally, a bit more news!

Do you buy Pyra or other devices to impress your friends? I buy Pyra or other devices for the pleasure and/or functionality they give back to me, not to impress friends or other people. And actually there is no pocket computer like Pyra: real pocket size computer with usable keyboard plus...

    Finally, a bit more news!

It seems you mix up SUSPEND with HIBERNATE (on some old times on PC they were also called "Suspend to RAM" and "Suspend to disk", but "suspend' is not exclusive to PC). When you put it on suspend, it is only waiting for an interrupt or signal waking it. It is not off but it consumes near zero...

    Finally, a bit more news!

I did those DMIPS/MHz calculations a lot of time ago in "Future CPU" threads. You are right with numbers, but this is not about numbers but about support and functionality of CPU. It is more important to have more DMIPS or to have better support, new kernels, drivers, proper sleep/suspend...

    Finally, a bit more news!

Have you read previous messages from ED in this thread? I think you haven't because he has answered cearly most questions you ask. Note this: He could fill bankrupt for Pyra project (and this project is bankrupt) but he doesn't want to do so, and he continues shipping Pyra machines losing...

    Finally, a bit more news!

NXP i.MX 8M is used in Librem 5 smartphone and there is no big heatsink nor fan inside it: it is a smartphone much thinner than Pyra. They choose NXP i.MX 8M because of support, long term support and availability. If it goes good on a smartphone it can go good on Pyra.

    Finally, a bit more news!

All of them are handheld, but Pyra is real POCKET SIZE. No other mentioned device is pocket size. Even worst: the few having keyboard (not being Pyra) have useless keyboards as device is too big to type with thumbs while you hold it with both hands. So they are handheld for gamming, but not...

    Finally, a bit more news!

You are right but all those Chinese handheld computers, or handheld devices, have a few points where they could not compete with Pyra (if Pyra was available, because it isn't): 1/ They are too big, they are not pocket size, no way. Pyre size and shape design is pocket size, ideal for using like...

Micro Pyra news from the.. dragons mouth

Micro Pyra news from the.. dragons mouth

I am not excited about performance increment with future RK3568 SOC because in single-thread it will offer less performance than actual OMAP5 (at least if no audio playing being involved), but it will be a great update: -More support and drivers -Less heat and more battery life -64 bits ARM ISA...

    PinePhone with keyboard

Ok, that is a problem on other category: you receive your machine later (or simple late), but you receive it, while the problem not being supported by Linux, and having to use Android drivers, is something will be sticked with that machine probably for all its life.

    PinePhone with keyboard

Part of problem with notifications and PinePhone Keyboard is it was designes as a phone, keyboard was a much later add-on. If it would have been designed as a pocket computer, even with detachable keyboard, it could be different. On other side: it even lacks backlight in keyboard, so in some...

    PinePhone with keyboard

I suppose It's late but: I think control pad is GameSir X2 (it says when video begins but I don't understand its spoken English completely). It has USB-C connection for mobile. There is other version of GameSir X2 running by Bluetooth but it would add some input lag because of BT. Today there...

Could the pandora / pyra / or next generation model be much thinner?

On some models with 64-bit Intel Core 2 CPU you can remove IME totally: https://libreboot.org/ Of course, using 32 bit CPU old enough could be other alternative.
