    OneNetbook OneGX

Looks like LTE under Ubuntu 20.04 LTS works: https://liliputing.com/2020/07/linux-on-the-onegx1-mini-laptop-running-ubuntu-20-04.html Is that Amazon seller an official distributor? I'm very tempted to finally get a UMPC with built-in LTE. It's not really a thumbable UMPC but I can buy it "soon".

    It's software this time!

I'd vote yes but I haven't pre-ordered a Pyra. Glad to see capable people are volunteering to improve the software. Hoping to purchase a well functioning 4G Pyra when it goes retail for UMPC purposes. I did end up getting a GPD MicroPC though. It's a good UMPC but I'd rather have built-in 4G...

    OneNetbook OneGX

Nice! I hope we find out more on the LTE bands this supports on May 30.

    OneNetbook OneGX

Nice UMPC. Interested in the built-in LTE feature. I hope the final product doesn't remove it since it seems some features are gradually being thrown out when the designers encounter reality/engineers. Glad to see there may be other options besides that red color.

So, what's the current status of everything?

I'm looking into the Pyra as a UMPC so there's a higher chance of me losing it compared to a desktop or even a laptop. I'd like to use full disk encryption (FDE). Does the Pyra/Debian encryption software (LUKS?) support hardware acceleration for this? If not, I wonder what the performance and...

So, what's the current status of everything?

Thanks @imposserous for the video to let us see how some things work. Hoping to see more videos from other prototype owners doing what they got the Pyra for. They're nice to get a feel for the Pyra. I saw that Firefox took 10+ seconds to load. How fast are the SD card slots and eMMC capable of...

    PinePhone with keyboard

Wow, this is very interesting! I've been looking for a handheld/thumb use UMPC with a desktop OS and built-in LTE (US Verizon). It seems that the PinePhone supports all of Verizon's LTE bands. I didn't know keynav existed. I've always brushed off running a desktop OS without a built-in mouse...

Latest update: Keymats are here, how strong will the logo plate be - and pretty cases.

I'm only interested in LTE data myself. I'm not interested in voice (seems like it'd be awkward to use the Pyra as a phone) and Verizon is planning on shutting down their CDMA/3G network next year anyway (I can't even recall the last time I was somewhere with only 3G available). The built-in...

Wondering what US carrier LTE bands the Pyra supports. I'm a Verizon user and I only care about data only LTE use cases. Thanks. Edit: Ah, I found https://pyra-handheld.com/wiki/index.php?title=Modem and the PLS8-US. The datasheet shows that it doesn't support Verizon's main/primary LTE band...

We need more drama. So here's another video.

Looks like great progress on both hardware and software. Looking forward to people reporting their prototype experience for their use cases. Thanks.

We need more drama. So here's another video.

Thanks for the video link! Looks good with local apps ignoring the SD card load times. Do you know of any other videos that shows web page loading/browsing? Too bad the Wi-Fi wasn't working fully when this video was made but I guess a USB Ethernet adapter could at least show how well the SoC...

Hello, Any updates on the software side of things? It seems that devs have had prototypes for several months now. It'd be nice to see if the SW and driver issues from older posts have been resolved (maybe it's embedded in the pages of the thread somewhere?). Some current performance numbers...
