Release Why quake 3? and touchscreen suggestion

What I meant was that because it's a commercial game, some linux guy would always assume it's closed source, no matter what. > -----Original Message----- > Sent: Monday, August 03, 2009 2:38 AM > To: Mark Rein > Subject: Unreal Tournament 1 source > > Dear Mr. Rein > I would like to know if...

Release Why quake 3? and touchscreen suggestion

Well I fired off an email to the vice-president of Epic Games about releasing the source. I'll post his response if I get one. If it's a negative, I'll shut up. If not, well woo woo. For the record, the ut432pubsrc contains lots of src stuff for graphics and audio and the "core" is there (but...

Lush, an open source LISP implementation for games, etc

I've been messing with lush, and good news! They've been working on lush for quite some time, and version 2.0 might be out this year or next or something. The downloadable version in repository or something is version 1.2.1, very old (like 2007). You can get the dev version 2.0, and if someone...

    Release Why Quake 3?

I sure hope so. The lighting was one of the main things that made the quake engine games so unappealing to me.

Release windows xp for the pandora... sorta...

I think you'd just be far better off trying to run wine on pandora. Although wine was incredibly slow, the newer versions (I think after like 1.2 or something) run very fast (at least within 3/4s the maximum windows run rate), and have significant compatibility and lower overhead. Not to...

    Try porting Cube 2/Sauerbraten

Have you guys tried the Trooper Edition, a recent release, or any of the others? They did alot of work, and I believe the graphics are quite good, compared to what they could be. And like the last guy said, you CAN upgrade them if you want.

Release Why quake 3? and touchscreen suggestion

Found a compromise I believe I found something you guys would LOVE to have: the xreal engine, or the engine the xreal game uses It's a quake3 engine upgrade, featuring hardware acceleration, per-pixel lighting, they've even already figured out walking-on-walls like Prey has. Graphically, it's...

Release Why quake 3? and touchscreen suggestion

Just so you guys know, Unreal and the Unreal 2 engine have been made publicly available. I just figured someone would scream out "but it's commercial, the engine can't have been made available" Link for Unreal engine: http://unrealtournament2004.filefront.c ... Code;50393 I don't know if this...

Release Games We'd like to See on Pandora

I thought of another game: Tremulous It's open source, uses opengl, and has a good community.

    Crosspost: Unofficial mascots for Pandora

There was a cartoon with a penguin that was cubey. I think a penguin opening a box with light coming out would be cool. Either the box opens away from you, and you can make out the sides of a penguin and a glow of light, or an isometric view of a pengiun opening a box with the penguins back to you.

Any time schedule for a second wave?

I was wondering when the next set of Pandoras will be available. Since all the hardware designs are "completed", couldn't the next set ship relatively quickly? And if the hardware kinks are worked out, does this mean we could see a greater set, like 5000+ next time?

Release Games We'd like to See on Pandora

Re: sauerbraten on pandora...is it possible? This. You could MAKE LEVELS while you're on a bus or something, then play them with your friends. If Pandora made a large enough group for it, you could get more people to develop weapons, higher graphic potentials, stuff like capture the flag, etc...

Lush, an open source LISP implementation for games, etc

Has anyone tried running a lisp/lush system on the Pandora? I think you can use commonlisp, and maybe lush in ubuntu, but what about a minimalist approach? Here's a link to lush: http://lush.sourceforge.net/ Here's a few reasons I really want to learn it: Object oriented Interfaces with C code...
