Free market, Ceo's suck, etc ......... Split from "A successor already"

Forget the DOS/GUI argument for a moment.  Have you guys seen this article? How Silicon Valley's Most Celebrated CEOs Conspired to Drive Down 100,000 Tech Engineers' Wages CEOs are assholes.

    A successor already? Really?

Similarly, you all seem set in your ways in regards to Apple yourselves.  I don't think it's any different.

    A successor already? Really?

The IBM PC ran MS-DOS.  No, just no.  Would you rather be having this argument using MS-DOS and command line prompts right now or would you rather be able to look at the screen and just type and press post?  That's the argument you're trying to have right now.  The personal computer wasn't the...

    A successor already? Really?

And Atari and Amiga both made "much more capable" hardware than what the Mac was at the time.  Other computers used the mouse before the Mac did.  Other computers used the GUI.  Atari and Amiga aren't around anymore, but Apple still is.

    A successor already? Really?

No not at all.  The Apple I was not the first personal computer.  The Macintosh was.

    A successor already? Really?

Are you literally trying to pass that off as a computer?  The computer wasn't the computer until the GUI, mouse, and other innovations were introduced and made it what it is today. If you want to play that game, I'll just tell you the abacus was the first personal computer.  What an obnoxious...

    A successor already? Really?

Damnit.  That's exactly what I was thinking of.  Well, shit.  I swear I've never seen that before, but yeah it's almost exactly the kind of tech I had in my head. Now I sound like Al Gore.  "I swear guys, I invented the internet!"

    A successor already? Really?

I knew you would say that.  And the answer is this: when Jobs was at Apple, he made technology infused with art.  At NeXT, he tried to make competing hardware just because there was room in a market (education).  So it was all of the flash and none of the substance.  Then he goes back to Apple...

    A successor already? Really?

I think I'm coming around to your end of things.  It's true that Apple's end-to-end integration approach has locked out and alienated PC users such as yourself, who don't just want the "iExperience" as you so aptly put it.  I suppose it's a bit ironic that I'm philosophizing about Apple to a...

    A successor already? Really?

Yes, you are correct.  The GUI, mouse, and icons were all Xerox PARC creations, not Apple creations.  So the good idea then became groundbreaking after Apple "stole" those technologies and incorporated them into the Macintosh.  Though it can be said that what guys like Steve Wozniak and Burrell...

    A successor already? Really?

Apple wasn't a big boy until they tipped the world on its side and developed the first personal computer.  Not that I or any of us are comparable to the guys who started Apple (not just Jobs - Woz and Burrell Smith and Andy Hertzfield are all my personal idols) but just saying. I disagree with...

LOL Trashy - Haptic feedback is something I was going to mention, and I'm glad you brought it up.  I agree that haptic feedback can only give you so much responsiveness, and even then just like you said it doesn't necessarily let you know what you hit, just that you hit something. I'm a big...

Dude, touche.  I said a lot of stupid things in my first post here.  Hopefully I can become a productive member of the community.  I apologize for trashing your product and in general being a little shit, EvilDragon.

    A successor already? Really?

I recant my prior post to respond to this one. So you believe an on-screen keyboard sucks at gaming and getting work done.  I agree with you actually.  Why do you dislike it for the aforementioned tasks?  What could potentially make it better?  Do you personally see the physical keyboard ever...

Ha!  Nice dig.  Yeah, I guess I don't understand the point of the Pandora.  I was mostly just pissed off and stormed over here to write a bunch of nonsense about OpenPandora Ltd. and then started going off on a tangent about how ugly I think the device looks.  Sorry for disrupting your forum...
