On a large file there is some advantage to using a single read, but the difference is not huge. I just tested the read() method vs the getline() method on a 1 mb text file stored on my SD card. Each run was done after a fresh reboot.
open/malloc/read: 0.56 seconds
ifstream/getline: 0.71...
There is no simple answer for this, but there are some approaches to try.
In this type of view you can rely on fact that the tiles are parallel to the bottom of the screen, which means you don't have to do a completely general textured polygon rendering engine.
For a given tile, the first...
Trailblazer had lots of different versions for different systems. Can you post a link to a screenshot of exactly what you're trying to accomplish? The approach will depend on the details of what view you're trying for.
Some stuff we don't know about the MMSP2+ so things like power consumption would be guesses.
Most applications will have a much easier time making use of a single 532 mhz processor than two processors that total up to 660, even if the MMSP2+ board is built carefully to make sure the second...
That may be, but selling a console capable of running an emulator is not the same thing as downloading roms. mp3 players are not illegal just because you can put pirated music on them.
Eh? The second part invalidates your leading point.

Maybe you use the machine for "retro gaming" (whatever that means), but that's not all this machine can do. Better to say "it is a website dedicated to an open platform that is...
Nope! I can hardly spend a year dreaming of a new handheld! I'm still planning on a testing release in September sometime (whenever a developer says "september sometime" that means "hopefully september 30", heh).
Oh well, then whether the MMSP2+ is used or another processor, all of the hardware-specific parts of the kernel will have to be written from scratch I suppose. Fun job for somebody!
Neither GPH nor the distributors have shared sales numbers. Except to feed the curiosity of us fanboys there's no reason for them to.
Gp2x development will probably slow a bit right away as some people are recruited to work on stuff prior to the new machine's release. Others (like me) spend...
Assuming that the MMSP2+ register definitions and general operation methods are similar to the MMSP2 (which seems likely) and also assuming that Craig et al are working from the Open2X kernel effort (which seems possible), it would probably be a fair bit easier to work with the MMSP2+ than the...
