Uh hai, i'm a C/C++/SDL programmer(while I don't use iostream or any other lame would-be-cool-but-really-isn't C++ features), Linux user and enthusiast(not in a club!), GNU freak, synth enthusiast, musician(primarily self taught) and computer-builderer - like with chips 'n' solder, not noob shiznit like x86 builders do(I have schematics for a z80 computer (real original yeah), gonna order parts soon)<br />
<br />
I'm in the Pandora batch 2 queue, woot.<br />
<br />
I
hate interpreted/JIT languages, i'll most likely decapitate you with the longsword of ownage(TM) if you mention them to me. Seriously, people - WHY can't you just use compiled languages? Python/perl/bash/sh scripts do have a point, they can be used with tools that can be obtained on nearly any (unix-like) system but even then using them to do what some people do is insane. I feel HTML/Javascript are also a terrible waste and could at least be done in bytecode form. If all the world were compiled languages we'd have a lot less push for CPU speed. Really. Tho I was never innocent, my first program was interpreted - Commodore BASIC. I've learnt 6502/6510 assembly and damn is it faster <img src='http://www.gp32x.com/board/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />. Enough ranting <img src='http://www.gp32x.com/board/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> <br />
<br />
I don't claim to be the best programmer in the world, hell, I'm rather crap really. I know my programs can shit bricks because i've overlooked things and I except that. OH - I *never* steal code. I might take code from a project, legally - but I never steal.<br />
<br />
I have written a small (x86) operating system - more a shell strapped to a
timebomb bootloader - but hey. I might one day pick up work but i'd like to work on my z80 stuff and also try ARM - custom Pandora OS anyone?<br />
<br />
I'm currently working on a Pokemon fangame that runs at the Pandora native resolution, 800*400. Sorry people using other resolutions, hell i'd like to use a lower res, a higher resolution means more content I gotta make. Currently I have mapping working - graphically, no tile actions yet ( <img src='http://www.gp32x.com/board/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> ) as well as walking and a map editor. Excuse me saying, but my map editor is awesome (imo) <img src='http://www.gp32x.com/board/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' /> . The game will be released under the GPLv3 with some modification/exceptions. It's written in C++ (lol sorta) with SDL for video output, image loading, ttf rendering (I should write my own text routine :\) and eventually sound. It will of course dynamically link so I can choose the license.<br />
<br />
I love old computer systems, like the Commodore 64(I learnt programming in Commodore BASIC!), ZX Spectrum, PC XT, etc because they're awesome. And old terminals with only green phosphor - sweeet. I also enjoy Pokemon games, I have an awesome competitive team (which is mainly unused, waiting for Black&White's WiFi stuff). I sometimes use shoddy battle (ew java).<br />
<br />
Well...this is long. I'll have to make up for the filesize in code for the Pandora eh?
