WAAAAAAHH!!! He's done it!

Jeff nailed the sound problem in 0.6! :) Go download it from his site!

NO MORE FARTS!

A new release already? But I just downloaded 0.5!

Clean sound, this is GREAT news! Jeff, how the heck are you doing this
in such a short time? You have found a way to bend time, admit it already! :)

PS: Wow! With this message, I became a whole percent of this board here! :D

Have you actually tested it?

My m8 just sent a message saying he had done it, but then i got a message 2 mins later saying its still there and some games that were working dont now :(

I left mine at home, wont be able to test till tomorrow now  :(

All the games I use work absolutely perfectly, all with sound, all with no fartyness.

such as :-

Xenon 2
Head over Heels
Ghosts n Goblins
Chuck Rock

etc
etc

Release 006 - One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind... :D

No I haven't tested it yet. I'm at work right now, so I will have to wait 'till this evening.

I haven't seen any complaints yet in the castaway board, so I guess it's working fine.

testing it now!

works great! (stunt car racer and buggy boy work perfectly)

skeezix is a genius! :D

one question though - i managed to find my favourite games (turrican 2, giana sisters etc) online, but in .msa format....does anyone know of a way to convert these to .stt files? (i assume .msa is a compressed format no?)

thanx :) (and no worries if it can't be done)

Just to let you know I tried a couple of .msi files and they didn't work, so I just renamed them to .stt and hey presto they worked! :D

Thanks eveyrone, and glad your'e enjoying it. I'm running out of things to add into it ;)

I'll go try Buggy Boy myself.. I'd forgotten that game. That was one of my all time favourites back then :) Super Sprint works well (aside form the flicker/slowdown at the cup-screen.. raciing rocks!)

There shoudln't be any changes in compatability.. no code was changed except for sound code, and a couple small other things about the controls (timing mostly). The sound fix was pure tedium to find, but worth it :)

Turns out a simple dumb little for-loop that gcc was optimizing to death was just tieing up the system too much, and the hardware woudl pop if the memory bus got too busy. So I removed the need for this one looop, and voila, good sound. Pain in the ass :)

Thanks again skeezix. Here are the results from the games I've tested:

Swiv: Sound seems fine so far.

Another World: Still pretty constant crackling, but its is a massive improvement.

Llamatron: General sound is spot on.Music skips a beat here and there-hardly noticable.

Space Crusade:Sound and Music 100% fine so far.

Haven't read the full change log yet but the left shoulder reduce frameskip to zero function seems to be broken currently.

My mistake. The frameskip feature isn't broken...it was just very slow to update on the games I was trying.Sorry about that.

Has anyone tried Mortville Manor? - does the speech work?

(The whole game is basically speech and is essential in playing it)

Not sure about Mortville Manor... I know the speech used in the intro of Monty Python's Flying Circus is audible and understandable (albeit barely). However, Gobliins 2 sounds like it's supposed to be speaking, but only garbled noises actually turn up - I'm assuming it something to do with cmpression. But some speech can certainly work on some games.
