i uses Windows ME and the pc software and drivers are only avalible for every other windows version.

can anyone help me with this?

if there is a version for windows 98 then it will work on me its the same operating system only crappier.

I use WinME

Use the 98 drivers, they'll be okay.

The only trouble I've had was installing Little Weezards from joyGP, which I installed okay at work with my 2000Pro

Cheers

aye ME is a pile of steaming monkey crap but the 98 drivers do work

Gotta say - I'm a computer technician and I can't understand all the anti-ME feeling that goes on! In my experience (an there's quite a bot of that!), ME is more stable than 98, has better driver installation routines, better Internet sharing support, better network setup support etc etc etc.

What is it that people hate about it so much? Yeah - it's not as stable as 2000, but it's still ok (and certainly no worse than 98!).

I reckon it's more of people going with what others think than making up their own minds :D

hehe - no need to start a flame war by the way!

Yeah, I've used 95, 98 and ME, and I've had fewer problems with ME than the other two. Indeed, my last install of 98 (replaced now by Linux) gave several BSODs at *every* shutdown!

As far as GP32 goes, I haven't had any problems installing/copying things (including Little Wizard) using ME.

I'd still rather use 2K though. :)

The two ME machines I've used had worse memory leaks than 95 did for some reason. When my dad's machine boots up it takes several minutes, and he's having to reboot at least once a day because by the end of the day everything is going so slowly (it's a p933) you can't even play minesweeper.

I like the "feel" of w2k much better. It rarely crashes, it runs pretty much every games I've tried on it (stuff from '90 all the way to now) ... it just feels more stable to me.

My Win Me machine crashes very often, and due to those lovely people at PC world not giving you the windows installation disc re-installation does little to combat this.

i should do what zombie dave says and upgrade.

having used most of the ms os's at some point i can truly say win me is the worst ever, it is nowhere near as stable as 2k/xp and i dont think it's any more stable than w98. the major problem with win me is it's total lack of compatibility, xp does a better job of running older windows and dos programs than me does!

my advice to anyone who has win me installed is get rid of it ASAP!

Best thing is indeed to upgrade, but till then you might try making an image of your harddisk with software as Powerquest: Drive Image. It's a lot faster then re-installing as well.

And in my experience ME is worse than '98. A lot more whistles and bells, but a lot less stable. XP and 2K are very, very good for your heart. There are a lot less encounters between my fist and my screen now that I'm using XP.
