Little John

morning....

i have the exactly the same problem, like the author of this thread.

if i enter the menu after loading a game and just leave it without touching anything, the emulation runs much slower.
you can see it well in ff2/ff3, because after leaving the menu, the scrolling on the world map is too slow. it looks like the map can't follow your movements (if anyone know, what i mean...)

i've tried ljgp0.3 and 0.4 and i think, there's no difference in the games i tried. perhaps it's a memory-bug. maybe the memory that was used for the menu is not given free after exiting....

i started a thread with that problem some months ago and people were really angry to me, because they said ljgp was one of the best emus. and yes, they're right. just except that one thing. and to continue a game, you have to load the savestate, and to load the savestate, you have to go into the menu......

exactally 0-bake, I first noticed it big time in FF2. I went to the menu for something, then went back to the game and each move was painfull, this wasnt even in the overworld, it was in the inital castle.... If I reset the GP32 and _DONT TOUCH_ the menus, the game is playable and that problem doesnt arrise. I think something in the menus (atleast in 0.4) is a bit buggy....

LJNES works fine for me, .4 only hs some slowdown during jumping with kirby and trying to suck in the star i spat out *rare accasion*

i have no problem :D

I heard many great things about Little John, so downloading the most recent version (0.4) and trying it out on a few random games, the games ran _really_ slow. Now I did play a few that ran great, but alot of my favorite games dont run at a playable speed, FF2, BlasterMaster, SolarJetman, etc... (they usually play decent for the first few minutes of the games because there is little activity, but once the games pickup, the speed goes down considerably) (sound on and off and sound quality settings didnt seem to effect it one bit).
I've played through both FF2 and Blaster Master without any problems, 100% speed all the time, sound quality at the highest settings. This is using LJ 0.4.

Sure you have Video: Fast, VSync: Off, Frameskip: Auto, Frameskip adj: 00%?

Thats my settings yes. I try with / without sound and it doesnt seem to make a difference. And if I hit menus and go back its really bad.

Well something is obviously amiss with your system/settings/install so you need to change it. Every single game I have tried (I have tested around 80 or so) has worked as it should at full speed without any slowdowns or problems. Only thing I have noticed is at the first stage of blaster master some of the blocks looks a bit odd when scrolling.

Did you download LJ from the authors website?

Hi, yoyofr here!

I'm not aware of these pbs, but as lately I'm back to some littlejohn coding, I guess it's time to fix those issues!
could you do a brief & precise description of the pb & mail it to me?
(like : in the game XXX, when I do this I have that issue, ...
my settings : sound: xxx, vsync, xxx, fskip = xxx, fskipadj = xxx, ...
I have entered the meny just before, or not, ...
)

thx!

....ok, i am looking for your mail adr later,

for no i can say, the prob is in ff2/ff3 with default settings while you walk, the scrolling is a little messed up. i guess, it's a vsync prob, because, i just figured out, with vsync=on and frameskip=1 the problem is gone.

** the problem only occurs after you left the menu, without going into the ljgp menu, everything is fine **

i dont know, if that fixes the problem itself, because on some games you might see the fixed frameskip=1.

ps: would it be possible to make a 'save settings' like in opensnes9xgp ? that would be really great....because then you can just load a game and start playing it....
