GP32 Mr.mirkos Sdk Replacement

Yo man!

// process KSC5601
does your routine output EUC-KR code page characters?
Is KSC5601 cp very simply so anyone could produce a text data with this code page?

I wanted not use the gp32sdk at all. But I had to due to Korean fonts support only.

Why do I need Korean fonts?
I just wanted to make games (and tools) with different languages support.

Yes, but.. EUC-KR is just big set of KSC5601 for special char like line and english.
KSC5601 is Korea standard char set used in MSWindow.
but ..KSC5601 is not perfact supports all of Korean char, just 99.999% of frequently using by Korean. so, U don't worry about it for making a game not a word Processor.
( perfact Korean char count is 11172 but ksc5601 is 2350 char )
To 100% of Korean char support, you must have lager then 200K of font size with
more code ( if 12x12 size ).

U says 'very simple' .. because my algorithm is aim to 'display' not a 'input IME(automata)' so smallst and effective. :)))

enjoying code,..

regards,

- nanjungho,

thank u very much 8)
i need Korean fonts.. to be able to make applications/games have Korean translations
(check my site in the signature)

i'll try this module...

i think the best way
is to move sdk to more standart funcs..

or even merge it with SDL

actually.. noone need "gp32 unique" functions.. they need well documented, well known SDL-like stuff

am i right?

oh my!!!!
i've never knovn that Korean set has as many chars as Japanese 8))

Btw... is it ok to write "Corean" (not Korean)?

and.. gp32 needs more Korean fonts support in games than Japanese.

I think we realy need no standard functions, we only need a good Documentation
of the existing functions, but i got no time, writing hundreds of papers,
showing "new coders" how to code.

>or even merge it with SDL

This is a real waste of time

1) there is a good SDL port for the official SDK
2) The code is getting too big, with the SDL overhead.

SDL makes it not easier to port SDL Software to the gp, couse there is
no real OS on the gp32 hardware.

>actually.. noone need "gp32 unique" functions.. they need well documented, >well known SDL-like stuff

The gp32 is unique, and SDL is not known to more than 5% of the gp32 coders.
Also there is no big differnt in writing a Programm, and use
Function A or B to set up a screen, If both are good documented.
SDL is only fine, if you want to port you code to a other OS. But the
gp32 also lacks of a OS :)

* I want to keep my SDl as simple as possible. *
Ask the coder of scummvm, he is no longer using SDL, he is now using my SDL :)

Mirko :)

Hi, all,
Here is my modified version of mr.mirkos sdk for ADS 1.2
It contained new version of crt0.S ( more good )
and my simple KSC5601 Korean char support example for Don Miguel.
I hope this sdk helpful for ADS user.

use your own risk.

thanx,

- nanjungho

MR.MIRKOS SDK for ADS1.2
Really nice job :)

I can not try your ads stuff, couse i got no windows, but iam wondering why
the ads code is so big ?
e.g.

ADS: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 226164 Feb 20 12:36 modlib.a
SDK: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32164 Feb 19 00:05 libnspmod.a

And other libs also ...

Please send me a *.bmp of the korean font you are using, so i can add it to my
next version of font handler. I want full loadable font support for the future...

greets, Mirko

Hi, yo,

>> SDL...

My think was same to mr.mirkos.
gp32 was diying, on appear PSP(playstation portable) at end of year.
and many handheld game machines appears at this year.
Just save your time..

btw..

hmm..
Korean char set was designed by "Great King of SeJong" at 600 years ago.
(He is Korea top bill picture model :) )
Korean char can assembled by two consonant and one vowel
19 * 21 * 28 = 11172
if u don't want pretty font then just make and use 19+21+28=68 font set.
( but really bad of view :( )

good designed Korean font set is too expensive. it is gameprak's problem.

"Corea" was used by old European.
plz call "Korea".

I will visit your Russian home page.
have nice weekend.

ADS: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 226164 Feb 20 12:36 modlib.a
SDK: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32164 Feb 19 00:05 libnspmod.a

And other libs also ...

cause that libs have more info section.
compiled code was more smaller then gcc if gxe rager then 100K im sure.

currently I can't .. you can use my code to rebuild images.
I've just captured data from my WinXP.. It is secret from MS :)).

good day,

- nanjungho

IMHO the GP32 needs it's own SDK, SDL is just too bloated to of any use. the official SDK is usable (well it does not handle sound very well) but is bad documented :( what we really need some kind of "secondlevel" lib handling sprites (scaling, rotating, collision, management, animation), layers and SFX (no matter if based on the official or Mr.Mirko's SDK) ... nonethless it would be very sad if Mr.Mirko would stop his work now...

i think he won't stop working 8))
^_-

and.. what about me.. all I needed was a Korean font support.

cya!

PS comparing GP32 (with flash!!! and open structure) with well closed, disk-based PSP is out of the question 8))

SDK Version 0.6

The big BugFix, Clean up, and Documentation Version.
There is now a complete PDF Documentation for the SDK.

NEW:
- Renamed almost every SDK Functions, they now all begin with gp_
- Rewrote all examples to fit the new calls.
- ZDA lib is 10kb smaller
- DMA0/1 mode added, you can now use DMA
to copy memory regions. ( very easy handling )
- Cleaned up Sound lib
- added sound mixer ( not working yet )

Remember: Always get the SDK at :
http://mirkoroller.de/gp32/

Read the PDF online:
SDK06.pdf

have FUN,

Mr.Mirko

ok i'm trying to use your sdk for my kvm... but some functions are still lackings
could u please focus on a GetCountTick() function (or any other way... a real RTC would be great (i mean not a stupid count tick, but a real gettime() in ms and not dependant to cpu freq))
thank you, your work is really impressive
i'm looking forward next versions...

by the way, what are the sources u use to make this sdk? (tech specs pdf... arm references?) could be intersting...

keep good work and take care

It's great to see someone working on something to take a lot of the complication out of programming for the GP32. I find the ADS environment is the best for creating GP32 apps, but the ADS library is totally buggy. I also had difficulty trying to use the GCC libs with ADS also.

I'm currently writing a small game slowly on the PC, with the intention of porting it when it's complete. By the time I am ready to port, I think I will be using this SDK.

Keep up the good work man.

RTC can do 1/128 sec i.e. 7.8128 ms granularity at its best.. would that be exact enough?

Iam investigating timers right now ...
A simple RTC is not so easy, couse
1) there is no RTC in gp32
2) the timers depend on CPU freq.

So the only way to get a timer is, the timer generates a irq, and in this
irq, we can increment a long, whitch can be return to the user.

Well.. there is RTC in GP32, which has its own clock independent of other clocks. The RTC is just not powered up by default. I have used it for my timing needs. Other possibility is to use the Watchdog timer but that is again PCLK dependant. Want some code? :)

sure...i want some code :)
is there a way to use the RTC without modifying the gp32?
it's ok if the RTC is reseted to zero on power-on (or even on application init)

As i understand the RTC, it can only handle seconds, hours, days, years, i saw nothing about a 32bit register with miliseocnds count...

Sure, iam always interested in code :)
