hi there, my question is, does anybody try to do an ssh-port for the gp32?
i mean, linux doesnt really work on gp32 (now)
thatswhy it would be cool to have at least an ssh-client for the gp32 from which you can connect to your linux-box :D
i wonder, if i'm the first one with this idea in this forum (search didnt result anything..)
just an idea :)

so far, the_Diabologic

then we can make something so it hooks up to the old apple ][ computers so we can play Oregon Trail and Number Munchers

Well lets think it through a little shall we? :)

1) Theres no keyboard
2) Theres how many comm ports?

So you can add a keyboard to the GP32 by using your comm port. How will you then connect to a machine to do telnet, ssh, etc etc?

An onscreen keyboard? That would be so unuseful for reading your mail with Pine :p

I don't understand why you would want to ssh into or from a gp32. are you saying that you would ssh from the go32 into the computer or from the computer into the gp32. Either way I don't see the point.

yes, i though of an onscreen-keyboard :p
or maybe you can use an usb-keyboard and set up a battery-device-adaptor to get power into the usb or set up a wireless usb-keyboard (which have batterys to work..) and wire it..
and to the internet you can connect via mobilephone and from that point into your machine's ssh-server

what's the point of getting ssh onto your gp32?
well, you could surf the internet via lynx or links, check your mails, ....
the point is, you cannot *use* linux on your gp32 yet, so this would make up as something, which brings the feel of linux anyway into your gp32 :D

why not just buy a cheap laptop if you want all this crap.

because it's way better to have such stuff on my gp32 :D
but the hope, that this will come out sometime is lost anyway, i mean nobody started this project yet and it doesnt seem that it will be started (i can't code in C yet -.-)

the gp32 has 2 uart ports so you are able to connect a keyboard and the pc at the same time.
or maybe keyboard +modem?

ssh would only be great if you have linux on your gp32 and a Handy with modem, which you can use on the gp32 :D , i think...
with that you could connect to your PC at home... do some stuff, pretty cool i think....
but i dont think we ever see a GP32 Modem.

yes, gp32 has two usart's (well, I think they are synchronous anyway), but only one is exposed. Nothing stopping you using the i2c interface tho through a simple microcontroller to convert to rs232 and then add level-shifter for connectivity pc.
