Sorry If I'm a bit behind in knowing this, but has anyone actually known Sonic Team have been porting Sonic Adventure DX (GameCube remake of the original DreamCast title) to the PC? I only found out about this lately and downloaded the demo to try it out, though I didnt think it'd run that well since I'm short on computer upgrading as of yet (see this thread please!)

Sonic Adventure DX PC Demo Page

The demo's only in japanese as far as I know but there isnt too much you can miss out.. just so people know, the demo features three playable stages:

Emerald Coast (Sonic)
Windy Valley (Tails)
Red Mountain (Knuckles)

Just thought I'd say that I was surprised at how fast the game was running on my computer.. ok I know the processor is powerful an' all but I have no gfx card at all, and since this is one of those "latest" PC games I was expecting that I needed one.. oh well guess I was wrong

Oh one more thing - I found something fun you can do in this demo: You can replace it's background music tunes with any tune you want (as long as you have it in .wma format and it has the same filename as the specific stage/event tune in question). I was experimenting with this and I tried playing old skool Mario music during Sonic's stage.. I even included the flagpole goal theme from Super Mario Bros that plays as soon as you finish Sonic's stage :D what fun

You know what i found funny about the original Sonic 3 on the PC? It was faster to emulate the genesis version.

On my P75 the PC version ran so slow it was barely playable, but the genesis version via genecyst was perfect.

Lazy coders me thinks ;)

pretty poor game to be honest. all it involves is holding the forward button and its too hard to try and sim your jump on top of an enemy
So like the 2D Sonic games except you push forward instead of right?

*cowers and waits for Sega fanboy backlash*

it was the same deal with the PC version of PSO I think...low system specs, replacing sounds...

Weird.. no one has yet.. Seeing Twimfy's the only Sega (Sonic) fanboy I know on these boards I'm surprised he never posted yet :p Oh well

And here I am.

Well, yeah you do just have to hold one direction, but to me as a fanboy it's total euphoria: Pure enjoyment without having to do anything at all.

Anyhoo, I tried the demo and it ran surprisingly well on my parents Dell PC (equipped with a fantastic Intel graphics set :p ) but as I've mentioned before, Sonic died the day he went into 3 Dimensions (aside from Sonic world in Sonic Jam) so I'm not really interested in this release.

It will be bought for collection purposes of course, and it will be my 4th copy of the game.

Oh well... I can only hope Sonic Heroes is good, I already got it on import pre-order so I should get it on the 11th Janurary (releases on 6th and takes 5 days shipping)

Twimfy.. are you thinking of getting Sonic Heroes? What're your thoughts on it cuz I dunno many people who I can ask/talk about the game :p

being in (poor) 3d takes away from the fun level imo.

Well as a fan/collector I'm obliged to buy it, although it doesn't look like it's going to be up to much. I am pleased however that they are including parts of the Chaotix crew (they starred in Chaotix for the 32X and were pretty major characters in the UK comics!) it suggests that SonicTeam maybe realising that the Sonic adventure story line just wasn't a match for the stories of old.

Sorry for takin awhile to reply to this but I've been away for a few days.

I know what you mean, and yes, it's nice to see return of some old skool Sonic Team characters, even though I never knew too much about the Chaotix crew (I never read the comics very much)

Tonight I found out the Chaotix crew are also reappearing on Sonic X (anime show based around the characters and plotline from Sonic Adventure onwards) Starting season 5 (episode 39). My guess is that season 5 will be based on the plotline and events of Sonic Heroes, since season 3 was adapted from Sonic Adventure's events and season 4 was an adaption of Sonic Adventure 2 (seasons 1 and 2 are not based on any game storyline, events)

I've only seen the first 12 episodes of Sonic X, and they were english subbed (I bought them on DVD ages ago) to be honest though I don't think the show will ever make it over here to the UK.
