I am a big emulation fan, and have been admiring this handheld for a while now, i am very interested in the SNES aspect, but what i have no idea how to transfer the emulators, or anything infact over to the handheld. So what hardware should i be looking for? i have a feeling its going to be a bit like the GBA's FAL.

Cheers

You can plug your GP32 directly into your computer, so you don't need any other hardware (well, a USB port....).
If you WANT to transfer it another way, Lik-sang has a good one, but I've had a bad experience with their shipping...

The gp32 uses Smart Media Cards (SMC) as media. The can be purchased many places and cost ~$40USD for an 128MB card.

I recently bought an SMC writer for $17USD at a local computer show. It plugs into a USB port. I haven't received my gp32 yet, but using an SMC writer is supposed to be much faster than using the USB cable that comes with the gp32.

Unless you're very patient I wouldn't get a GP32 for SNES alone...I mean, the games run with sound, but they usually don't run very fast. Pretty much nothing runs full speed with sound in SNES9XGP and many games don't run even close (at least for me!). Don't get me wrong, it's a great machine, but SNES emulation on it's still very limited. It's bound to get better! (some games run great on it, but don't try to run say, Secret of Mana, or Starfox. Well, try to run them. Show your friends and they'll go "WOAH!" but don't actually play it. Maybe those friends will run off and code a faster, better emulator which can actually play these games! Well, maybe not.

Personally I love my GP32. I'm disappointed a little because I made a punch out nes hack over the course of the 2 weeks I waited for it to arrive, and then I find neither NES emulator runs it (well, infoNES ran it with glitches at a horrible speed), but things like perfect SMS emulation, perfect Plus/4 emulation and perfect Speccy 48k emulation make it worth it. Ok, they're not perfect, but they're close enough for me. And those that aren't are still great! Keep up the good work, coders! :)

Thanks for your replys, most appreciate it.

I am still a little bit confused, when you say the handheld links up to the computer via usb, does this mean that you can copy Emulators and Roms straight to the smart media card without any smart media writer what so ever? or do i need to hunt down a smart media writer, its a little bit dissapointing about the slow speed of the snes, but as u say it probably will get better into the future, but perfect SMS emualtion does sounds amazing, i may hold back on purchasing the handheld for a little while longer. hmm decisions decisions.

All you need to do to put stuff on the SMC is to DL the PC-Link proggie to your computer and to use the USB cable provided w/ the GP32 to hook it up. After that, the SMC will act like a hard drive through the PC-Link proggie (well almost, there are some restrictions, but don't worry about it.)
About the SNES emulation, look at the post above, one of the emus can run a few games 100%.
