I have some MP3 speech files which are very small - about 8Mb for 50 mins, and are 12000Hz Stereo 24Kb/s MPEG2.5 Layer 3. They play OK on Windows Media Player, but not on the GP32(they sound like treble speed). The only way I can get them to play is to re-record and re-encode them in either MP3 or Ogg - in which case they end up being about 40-50Mb.
Is there any other way I can get them to play ?

might be the 12000Hz.
i encoded the same mp3 file 3 times....once at 128k/bps 44000hz
once at 96k/bps 33000hz
once at 64k/bps 22000hz

the one at 33000hz played as you decribed...the other 2 where fine on kayaa's mp3 player...downloaded on this site!!!

i had some of these type low bitrate/freq mp3 files and they were like chipmunks on the standard mp3 player, but even on the new beta they were like choppy and skipping and that... harumph!

I've tried them on both the GP32 and Team K2YAA players, and they sound as papapopolung describes - "chipmunks"

I tried your suggestion, but it's an earlier version 0.93 of the Team K2YAA player I've got - V0.99 - and I still get the chipmunks !
