How on earth do I make windups my main OS, I dont want it to start in the main screen with the three icons...

Is that possible?

whats so good about wind ups? i was thinking of changing mine to wind ups but theres hardly any reviews or anything on it o i've stuck to the original os

Another wind-ups question: My gp32 resets if I try to start fGB through wind-ups. I'm tempted to flash my bios so I can boot straight to wind-ups, but I was wondering if I should expect the same problem once I've done that? I'm not keen on moving to a new shell which I already know I hav a problem with, but I'm hoping the multi firmware version of wind-ups copes better or something?

I'm replying to myself here! I've just flashed my firmware and am using wind-ups. The multi-firmware version doesn't have the problem I was talking about. I guess fGB is a compressed .FXE, because the multi-firmware version says it's been patched to allow them to load. I'm really pleased to see how quickly wind-ups boots - I don't have to spend (what felt like) ages going through the free launcher any more!

geez, felt like ages waiting for free loader???? I use the system OS and free launcher and I can get into any given emulator or game in a matter of seconds. Can't imagine being so lazy that I can't wait a couple of seconds for it to load. :p Unless something was wrong with your GP.

Considering that all I want to do is turn the machine on, then load a program, yes, it feels like ages. If I go through the free launcher, it takes me 10-15 seconds from turning on to get to the list of programs I can run. Some of that delay is load time, some of it is the 4 keypresses I have to make (start, down, down, start in my case). With wind-ups, It takes 3 seconds for me to get to the stage where I can choose a program to run. That is an huge improvement!

and if u use pacrom, the king of gp os' then it takes nothing if u set it to auto booting into a game, or just one press to start the last emu or game that u were playin :)

heh, that sounds good. Maybe even a little too fast, but I'll have a look at it. :) I only wish I'd flashed my bios sooner now!

I flashed mine a while back 'cos I liked the look of windups, but I've started to prefer Pacrom, it is so fast! Its great to be able to get to your nes roms in one button press (none if you have shortcut enabled!).

And best about Pacrom:
You can organize the SMC the way you like!

My SMCs are organized:

GPMM (for all the data)
EmulSoft (all my Emuls go in here)
Tools (all tools go in here)
Games (all games go in here).

I love PacRom :)

I also love Pacrom as it uses original icons and program names, but also lets you sort by program name instead of the nonsensical* default order. Plus having it auto-select the last FXE/GXB is very useful as I tend to play one emu a lot.

*someone will pick me up on this. I don't CARE if it's the order the FXEs were inserted into the FAT, it still doesn't usually make much sense.

I'm to scared to use the save last used game on pacrom, becuse it saves to EEPROM, and EEPROM can only be written to 100,000 times, and that means if I do 50 gamestarts a day my GP32 will break in about 7 years ;) But I do startup to the filemanager (root dir) cuz that only takes one EEPROM write :p
