I tried to get my GP2X to connect to my computer using this guide:

http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showt...48&hl=samba

But whenever I enable the USB Network, my computer detects it as two entries of "USB 2.0 Device". I tried the RNDIS Drivers found in the file archive, but the hardware wizard refuses to install it and installing it manually shows that the device couldn't be started. I've looked around the forums but couldn't find anything pertaining to this problem. Anybody know what I can do to fix it?

installation of rndis driver work realy perfectly for me with the inf file in winXP.

have you this files: usb8023.sys, rndismp.sys, netevent.dll in you windows partition?

New development: I found out that it's installing a device called "USB Composite Device", but before it installs the drivers, it detects it as "RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget". I tried to use the drivers found here:

http://www.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/cfiles.cgi?0,0,0,0,15,1290

But no dice, it says "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware."

And I am using XP SP2, and those 3 files are in my system32 and system32\driver folders.

At least for now, I managed to get the RNDIS device to show up. Now I just have to find out how to get the drivers to install for it.

I did this the other day all I had to do was follow the directions on the wiki for tcp/ip and it worked great. Try following those directions maybe. Oh and I'm using xp pro sp2.

Hmmmm...

Im on XP SP2 (Upgraded from SP1) and it works for me fine with those drivers. I never had a problem at any SP2 machine for XP.

I have a question regarding this too,

why does the USB Network option always revert back to OFF everytime I exit the setting menu?

I can't get it to start at all...

Push B to save the settings, not X.

ognet: In case you didn't notice, the guide that I used is the same one the wiki references.

I have a suspicion that it's my motherboard, but without another computer handy, I can't test it as of yet.

I did just that... every other settings got saved (Telnet server, IP address), only USB network gets back to OFF...

Ok, I tried it on one of the computers at work and it was fine. So the problem is with my computer, not the GP2X. It's either the motherboard or XP itself, but I'm not willing to reinstall XP right now to find out which one it is. This seriously sucks though because I was planning to do some programming for the GP2X to complement my C class that I'm taking in college right now. Swapping the SD card back and forth is going to put a huge damper on my enthusiasm to program for the GP2X. Maybe I'll take up Python and use the Pygame SDL instead...
