Could Someone Test Something For Me?

If I posted a video file, could someone tell me if it plays back on their GP2X without any issues (using the standard player)?

I'm making a little single-click rip pack for DVDs, and I just want to know if the video format is compatible (haven't got my GP2X yet!).

Ta.

Hum hum, the Gp2X doesn't handle this file format (.mp4), jamesthejust.

From the specs page:
Video Codec support: MPEG 1, 2, 3, 4, DivX 3.11, 4.x, 5.x and higher, XviD, WMV (7, 8, 9 Series by 'After Support')
Format support: AVI, MPG, MPEG
Audio Formats: MP3, OGG, WMA (by 'After Support')
Resolution MAX 720*480
Frame Rate Max 30 fps
Bit Rate Video Max: 2500Kbps, Audio Max: 384Kbps
Caption SMI

I don't think WMV is working at the moment.
I use DivX 5.X codec (320x240 at 600 kbps, but you can change this up to 720X480 for Tv output with whatever kbps you want)
and 128 kbps/44.1 stereo mp3 audio.

I am reluctant to start a thread about this (I don't know what my question is really), so maybe this could be considered a segue...

I am honestly not very pleased with GP2X video playback, and now I see telcolou say "it works but it's choppy" and I think... so it doesn't work. One of the primary reasons why I got my unit (and 2gb sd card to go with it) was for the video+tv out. I have experienced 3 problems so far with video playback: no video and just sound, video and sound very choppy and out of sync, and , of course, the thing alerting me the "file is not supported."

All of these files were some kind of xvid or divx. Can someone tell me if i can expect these problems to be resolved in the near future? At first I would reencode my files, but it's getting really old and I don't wanna take the time. Was I naive to get the impression that once the official firmware version was released that I could throw any divx/xvid avi's on my sd card and play the majority of them, play them so that I can watch and enjoy them?

It works for me like that, until now evrything but a very few xvid videos worked without a problem.

well i just noticed that they list max bitrates for video and audio (384 kbps!?!? I have many files with well over that rate, but when i think about the 192 kbps standard for mp3s it seems fine, yet... is that a little on the low side?) on the "specfiaction" page of the official site. I thought i had done my research but... I suppose not. Oh well.... looks like theres no way around reencoding :(
