Get some desoldering braid (Thanks to grahf for the tip), I don't know how I managed without it before. If only I have known about it before I probably could have saved my PS2 mod attempt. Its brilliant, if you bodge it up. Just stick the braid on the problem and watch it suck all of the solder up.
Reesy, good idea. I too live in the UK (Hampshire, like you, as it turns out). Where can I buy desoldering braid from please (preferably a shop)? Maplin??

Well, while I didn't do most soldering on my gp2x, I guess I am the one who soldered around in more gp2x than any other one (about 200 now ;))

Just today I soldered around in four gp2x... change the resistor, change the Current Step Convertor (which breaks when you put too high current in with your PSU... and that's a REAL bitch to solder), changed a switch, some headphone ports...
BTW, i know now why the gp2x still works with a psu when the converter chip is defect. My research for the Vmod paid off a bit...

I had some of that stuff, but I lost it. For the moment, I use this thing I got at Radio Shack for under $10 that's kind of like a syringe, but it's spring loaded and has a button on it. All I have to do is melt the solder, push down the plunger, and push the button while holding the syringe to the molten solder. It sucks it up like a vacuum.
