Does anyone know whats changed with the sound driver in 2.0.0? The sound on my emulator doesn't work any more!

edit: What I say "doesn't work" I mean it sounds rubbish. Clipping and stuff all over the place I think.

Have you tried turning off the volume limit in system settings? I found GNUboy didn't give me anything unless it was off, and the firmware defaults ot it being on.

I tried switching that off, with no effect. Then I rebooted and checked again. It was the same.

Later yesterday evening I tried again and it worked. Perhaps I'm not initialising something properly and its always done that or something... Hmmmm.

The 2.0 firmware seems to have a number of changes "under the hood" so to speak. I've noticed various sound changes (volume levels and some times sound turning to mush) and graphical changes (like not being able to detect vblank as easily as before).

Rather than having versions of emu's and apps for various versions of the firmware, I'm thinking of scrapping Linux completely and jumping on the hardware. Hopefully the hardware itself is not going to change for a while, whilst the firmware seems to change things constantly.

Perhaps the volume limiter feature is adding some latency to the sound driver. I noticed the audio was a bit jumpy on the Payback demo, although I didn't think much of the soundtrack anyway.

I'm going to start a new thread regarding performance issues with the v2 firmware (and the system in general). I don't know if it will be of interest, perhaps you could have a look and see if there are any points to be made?
