Hello,
I've recompiled gpdoom v9 with gcc 4.x and compressed it with b2fxec so it's a little smaller for you. *NO LONGER RATIONAL SENTENCE, LOOK BELOW* I'm not sure if it's BLU+ compatible but if craigix or any of the other people who worked on the BLU+ compatibility would be willing to share their changes, I'd be more than willing to work it into the source I have and share it. *END OF IRRATIONAL SENTENCE* I'm not sure what I'm really gonna do with doom but I decided I was atleast going to look at the source a bit and get it compiling so we'll see what happens.

If anybody knows how to get ahold of petiso and if he'd be willing to try and help getting multiplayer over direct serial cable (like in NETPong) working I'd be willing to give it my best shot :)

Seeing as doom is gpl code feel free to get ahold of me if you would like the source, you ARE entitled to it but if you aren't actually a dev or don't plan on doing anything with it please wait until I've either gotten it into some kind of repository or have had time to upload it somewhere.

P.S. craigix, guyfawkes, anybody else who has worked on gpdoom if you don't want me working on this or whatever or want to talk to me about anything feel free to do so, you know where to find me :)

EDIT: Updated against latest Doom source, should now be BLU+ compatible and changed version number to 10.5

  *eyes pop* multiplayer!?!! Wooo-hoooo! lol, i love you!!! And yes, i understand that it may not happen- but kudos for even thinking about it and attempting it!

I am just wondering...GPDoom was already pretty much perfect so I am curious as to what improvements you have made.
He already stated shaving off its filesize, as well the possibility of serial cable multiplayer. Too bad probably noone else within a 500km radius of me has a GP32...

And if you take it as it is, you're right, GPDoom is perfect. It's a wonderful piece of software, definitely one of the GP32's killer apps.

Cool. Have you ever considered porting this to the GP2X? Yes there is a Doom on the GP2X but it isn't very good compared to this as it is a quick bare bones linux port with hardly any features/options.

GPDoom is much better in my opinion.

yeah, that would be awesome :).

I was wondering:
would multiplayer on the gp2x via usb to the pc and over the internet be possible? (since there is that serial->usb program?)

The gp2x version runs very nice and smoothly with sound, however, it does not have that great wad selector, and that's what i'm missing... haah maybe i have to dig out my gp32 nlu (yes, nlu!) once again

Hooka PM me when your on IRC, I will send you the source code for the latest build I have, I was the last to work on the source so it should be the latest code unless Rob worked on it but he hasnt sent me anything.

Save/Load code is kinda broken since me and craig got it working it for BLU+ users and some other optimisations. This bug is due to the compiler so if you are lucky it may work. We never touched the save/load code (honest!) so its not our fault :)

To people asking about porting this version to the GP2X - The gp32 uses quite a bit of custom code for memory and file handling so it would be a big task to port this over to GP2X. It would probably be easier to start from scratch with clean source and add the changes (menus, wad loader etc) from the GP32 to the GP2X port.
