How Many Different Ways To Update The Firmware?

I initially had trouble getting it to work, and I just rebooted my gp2x a couple of times and then one time it decided to update :p

Are you trying to first install his U-boot updater which acts as a firmware? Or are you trying to install the u-boot in one step?

what u-boot are you using right now? 1.0 or 1.0.1? It took me a while to realize that my first edition gp2x was using 1.0, so I updated it.

1.1.0.
I am trying to install either but no matter what the heck I do, it just deletes the .img file. :(

I tried using mkfs.msdos -F 32 in linux but it wipes my partition table on the card which seems really odd.. :/

Is it possible to flash (both the kernal and uboot) using a serial cable? If so how?

Also what is the difference between the jtag and serial cable and is it possible to convert one from the other?

Possible - yes, you can also flash the filesystem in this way but it's slow (took me about 4 hours to do the standard GPH filesystem). How - can't remember the exact sizes and locations needed and I don't have the details available at the moment so I'm not even going to attempt to tell you what to do. It's quite straight forward once you've got the instructions and follow them word for word, but make the slightest mistake and you could mess up u-boot and then you'll be buggered (no u-boot = no serial connection).
