what is the best way to encode epesodes for GP cinema??

iv tryed a few ways but they all end up at around 78mb for a 33min epesode.

and i hear people they can get it to about 25mb

can some one tell me how to do this??

Yup, you can get descent quality for about a meg a minute. I just use the moviepark tutorials but up the framerate a bit. works fine for me.

i use that guide.

and thats the one that gives me 78mb.

is there a better one??

and i got another anoying problem.

the movie is an mpeg file and when i do the 2-pass, first pass thing the file that is created is realy small (probobly cos it has no audio) but when i try to play it,
it dosent play at all.

can some one please help me.

you arnt meant to play the first pass. Just let it finish the first pass and go straight into doing the second WITHOUT CLOSING VIRTUALDUB OR OPENING A NEW FILE! Just change it to 2 pass, 2nd pass and put the audio compression stuff on and save off the avi.

The first pass isn't really supposed to play, it just gives the encoder a dummy-run through the file, so it can try and use the data more efficiently on the second pass (keeping the bitrate down in the scenes that don't need much, so that it has more for the high speed scenes). You can turn off sound for the first pass, if it's taking to long, and then add it in for the second pass. Hope that helps. Jace

Assuming you're using virtual dub:

go to the start of the section you want to cut out, and hit "home" (or edit->set selection start), move the slider to the end of the section you want to cut, hit "end" (or edit->set selection end), and then press your delete key (or edit->delete selection) to get rid of it.

Then, save your movie as usual, and it'll save it with your editing changes.

I use http://www.hostultra.com/~w76666851180/ It is great quality, not too big and only one pass.
ok, i can work with this, but long movies (i tried fight club and men in black 2) still are to big (approx. 160-170mb). I can't seem to get the other tutorial to work for me, it never does the 2nd pass :S:S

anyone knows how i can make the filesize smaller without messing up the video to badly?
