Whats the best version of video player that the gp2x has? My 1.4 is screwed up and freezes every 3 minutes. Same thing happens with my music player function after about 2 hours of play.

Ive got a solution to the mp3 player, [oldplay]

So does anyone got a link or something that has 1.01 video player, or 1.21 video player alone that I can install on my 2x?

Whenver I search these forums they dont bring up anything relevant.

Try re-installing the 1.4 software package, the 1.4 is far less buggy than the older ones.

If not, you can extract the software package from an old firmware and copy the necessary files to the NAND... I don't have any specific instructions for you though...

Try not playing it in saver mode. I heard that tends to cause freezing with some videos.

I use only normal mode.. Sometimes full, I tried save mode but its just too laggy :-||

Btw guys my videos are xvid, which previously worked in the 1.01 FW without freezing. Can someone suggest a new/older version of xvid that works good, or Divx as a different solution.. This mite be the problem correct?

I just use a recent binary of xvid, and encode along with LAME MP3 CBR in VirtualDubMod.

I can't check the exact version at the second...

I have a related query. I acquired my Gp2x secondhand (hooray for ebay) and updated it to 1.4FW almost immeditately - it arrived with 1.01.

Now, the PDF manual I downloaded indicates you can scale CPU useage during video playback, but I don't see how - there doesn't appear to be the option to do so.

Is it possible that the previous owner replaced the default player with something else? And if so, how would I go about undoing this? I'm keen to scale back CPU usage to save battery, and don't believe playback would suffer because I'm uber-nerdy in how I prepare video files for mobile.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Y button changes it.. when your in the video menu.. and 'save' mode which is 100mhz you need like 15fps or less to get it to be watchable.. But underclocking doesnt do sh1t all.

running the gp2x at 166, 200mhz and 266mhz was basically the same battery life when I tested it.

and ty for the link to downgrade ^^ purist
