Tv-out Has Stopped Working - Any Ideas?

I'm using the official firmware v1.4.0. Today I tried to use tv-out and all I get is some black and white interference on the TV, then nothing (tv looks like there is no signal). It has worked fine previously (using the same firmware). I tried reflashing the firmware, and applying the application patch again, but it makes absolutely no difference.

Any ideas?

I never tried the Tv output as I haven't any S-video input for now.
Did you try to switch between ntsc and pal ?
Perhaps this will force input detection on your tv set.

Thanks for the responses... I have set the output to PAL (to match my TV, has worked before, NTSC actually works normally too, but only in b&w). I have also checked the cables, although i'll disconnect and reconnect it all again to be certain....

Any other ideas? Has anybody else experienced this?

Possibly the batteries? (sorry if this sounds patronising, but we all forget the simple things from time to time).

If the gp2x is working ok then I'd agree with nickspoon, it's almost certainly the cable. Probably not making a good connection with the gp2x. Try holding it in firmly and see if that makes any difference.

I have now eliminated everything except the gp2x and gp2x tv-out adaptor itself (the only two items I don't have a spare of!). I have tried holding the tv-out in firmly, but it makes no difference (and hasn't mattered in the past). I have tried running from newly charged batteries and an AC adaptor.

The TV is receiving some output from the gp2x, since when I turn tv-out on, small horizontal b&w lines/interference appears on the tv screen.

I'm getting concerned something really is wrong now, I hoped it was going to be something very simple :\

Could you post a screenshot of your tv output with B/W lines thing ?
(if you have a digital camera).
I'm going to buy an adaptator for my s-video cable today, so I can check this out.

Sounds like either your TV-Out adaptor or your TV has gone wacky. It may be the GP2X, but I don't think it is. Get a replacement TV-Out adaptor and hope for the best.

It's not the TV, i've tried on three different ones. The b&w lines on the tv are a corrupt/rolling version of the gb2x tv signal - i managed to get a video playing and could just make out bits of the 'loading' screen.

nickspoon: why do you think it's the adaptor not the gp2x?

Planet_M: Simply because the GP2X is surprisingly stable around the EXT connector. You could check inside to see if anything's come loose.

Besides that, I'd rather be without my TV-Out cable for a week than without my 2X for a week, wouldn't you? ;)

well I got the replacement TV-out cable today, and it's exactly the same - guess it's the gp2x then. I'll try reflashing the firmware and utils patch, and failing that (and any other suggestions) I guess it's going back...

Edited to add: it is just the picture that the problem is with - the sound is working through the tv-out.

Edited again to add: reflash didn't help :(

Three days mailing gbax.com and no response...

Has nobody else had an issue like this (the tv-out issue, not the gbax.com issue!)?
