After several test i can explain my method to get a very good convertion of your .doc files :

1- Page setup :
1,58' for the width
11,70"" for the height

2- In the headers and footers :
Create a black square and resize it for fill all the page.

3- Recommandations :
Police size to 7 is a good size.

4- Convert to PDF

5- Save as jpg

The result in normal size in gpx2 photo viewer is very good.

I found a program that takes various file types and converts them into anything you need, any situation.

Like, for example, I think the GP2X's ebook reader can view....52? 54 characters per line? I tell the program to set whatever file it is at a 54-character width and it handles the rest, word wrapping and all.

Of course, I'm still sans GP2X, so I can't say anything.

Perchance you'd like to share; what program, and where could one get it?

I use the cream/vim pakcage from http://cream.sourceforge.net/ --- it's just a text editor, but it's easy to wordwrap with (I wrap at 52, which seems to work well) and can do other useful things like change text files from DOS-format to Unix-format --- handy if you're writing gp2x scripts from Windows.

That said, it won't operate directly on .docs --- you have to copy-paste the text out of them first :p --- so thanks for your research, Jdriele.

I'am french and some specific character are not diplayed in text viewer... So jpg solution is not the badest way.

If you saved it as a black and white bmp, 320x240 would be 9.6kb, I'm sure this could be futher reduced.

Thank for your advice (no more pjg) :D
This is the result with a marvellous book : Candide by Voltaire. http:/82.66.70.2/candide4.zip
Total size around 1MO for 34 A4 pages but 333 images

Word document is added, so it will be more easy to make it for your own books.
