Prboom 2.2.6-beta1

this is absolutely wicksmart.

one question though - I haven't used prboom before - is there any music support?

I cant get this to work....copied a wad file into the prboom folder and copied it across to my card...but when i run it all i get is a black screen...any ideas??

Is there a prboom.log.txt file in your prboom folder ? What's in it ?

Thanks for the tip, it seems it didnt like my ultimat doom wad, dropped in the shareware one and its fine...Very impressed...kudos to the prboom team and porters

Yes, but I had someone send me a key binding config file they made with a different doom wad to see if that would work for the controls but it didn't. Although I haven't tried looking at the log file yet, I had completely forgotten about it. Maybe that will give me some leads.

I got the goldeneye wad to work by using the doom 1.6 shareware wad first to set up my controls and then dropping the doom2.wad from the goldeneye conversion into the directory, so far it seems to be working fine

weird this was working fine earlier, now it dumps me back to menu when I try ton launch. i have also installed zlauncher although it ran fine with that before lunch (and 4 pints of stella). anyone else having same problem?

EDIT:Nevermind

Doom2 shareware runs great, about to test goldeneye (also runs great!, just tested)

Good work, and thanks to everyone involved with the port and the original prboom

Guy this is incredible!!!! You made come back almost ten years!!!

Great port of THE GAME. Now my GP2x has a reason to be

Hey I have done a little contribution, just a small set of icons for THE BEST game of all time:

Does the 1.6 shareware have a different file name?

How did you get the keybindings to set?

i set them up in regular doom then put my sd card in a reader and put on the goldeneye/wad (as doom2.wad). AFAIK goldeneye wad doesnt have that "feature" built-in

This is a near perfect port.

Congrats. The only think holding it back is the stick. But that's not really your fault.

The only way to improve would be some optimisations to make it run at a lower clock and preserve some power.

Awesome! Absolutely stellar! I now feel like my GP2X is complete and I can relax in a haze of wanton nostalgia.

Quick question for those that have played with it a bit: What's the best way to work the weapons? I noticed that there isn't (or couldn't find) a "next weapon"/"prev weapon" key bind. Do you just assign your favorites to different keys or what?

Again, awesome job!

Yeah, I just setup L and R with my two fav guns. But I can see how that would become a pain later on.

Some of the nix/windows doom engine ports have added support for next/previous weapon binds. Perhaps if we politely make a feature request we might see it in later builds.

how did you get the mods work? Is there any chance using Selector as mod selector?

For weapons, you can sort weapons based on your preference in prboom.cfg (near the end, under Weapon preferences). You can assign a key to "best" in the Weapons section of the "Setup>Key Bindings" menu. Pressing the button will switch between your two favorite weapons.

For suggestions and planned features, use the PrBoom Wiki page.

For manual prboom.cfg editing, I think the codes are the following (not tested):
Code:
A 0x42
B 0x43
X 0x58
Y 0x59
L 0x4C
R 0x52
SELECT 0x1B
START 0x0D
Vol+ 0x12B
Vol- 0x12D
(joystick click and movements are not keys).

I have doom.wad and doom2.wad and I placed them both in the prboom folder on my sd. When I go to run the game, i get dumped back to the main menu. wtf is going on?

EDIT: got it! and it fucking rocks!!!!!!!

There IS a key binding for cycling weapons. I have it set to Y for mine when I play Goldeneye. The only problem is, I had someone else send me their config, so I don't know what the setting is for that. I'll take a look at the file soon and show you the value in the config next time I post.
