Hi

These diagonal "wavy" lines really annoy me. They are very very visible in the green startup screen, and they are present when I am watching a movie. But they are not present when using DrMD ...

So :
- why are so many people complaining about scanlines and not about these diagonal lines ? Do other people don't have this problem with their gp2x ?
- are they due to electrical interferences ? Or is it a problem similar to the scanlines problem ?

I am using firmware 1.0.0, and I do not tried the LCD flicker already ... Might this help ? What are your experience (again, I am talking about these diagonal wavy lines and not about scanlines)

Apart from that, I'm really happy with my gp2x :)

make sure you use proper batteries, if you are your unit may be faulty, contact the shop you bought it from.

I'm using 2500mA Ni-Mh batteries, medium charged. In first place I was thinking my unit may be faulty, but if everyone here as the same problem, it would be useless to sent it back to my dealer ... But if I understand well, you do not have and never had this problem ? What is your firmware ? Is your gp2x from the second or the first batch (my gp2x is a "first edition") ?

:( well then it's hardware fault and it's really annoying.

Anyway, I'll wait to see how many peoples around here have the same problem ... Apparently, I'm not all alone !

Most likely because the scanlines issue hasn't been fixed yet while the wave lines have. I presume you're using the 1.0.0 FW because you can't update?

Anyway, try the LCD Tweaker. My unit doesn't show any diagonal lines but I can easily produce them in LCD Tweaker. So with the right settings you can probably remove them as well.

Well, what i'm thinking is that it could be interferences whith the mpeg coprocessor, when this coprocessor is used (so, when whatching movies, and maybe at startup). Some kind of magnetic interferences ...

Of course, I may be totally wrong (and in fact I hope so :D)

I should try latest firmwares, but from what I've heard it is quite dangerous to upgrade, and latest are as buggy as first ones :D

And I will try lcd tweaker tonight :)

I had no diagonal lines with the firmware 1.0.0, but since i updated it (1.0.1 and 1.1.0) i have diagonals lines,. But they are no diagonal line in DrMD and other game, so i hope this is just firmware based.

How I love software developers. Have to deal with them at work. If the software works on their machines or in this case, their screen is ok then it must be fine and so its released etc, what a joke!

Yes... I'm getting those diagonal lines too. They look like sideeeffect of supposed interlacing in the lcd screen. Probably it's kind of dynamic moire pattern and it should disappear when lcd will be fixed (assuming it will be of course).

OK, I just tried LCD tweaker, with various settings, and I nearly got rid of these diagonal lines :) (under firmware 1.0.0)
So coooool. Thanks to the author of this wonderful utility :)

Btw, I noticed these diagonal lines when playing with DrMD tonight. That's really strange, I would have swear there were no diagonal lines yesterday .... I wonder if it is not depending of external conditions (something like magnetic fields ...). This would also explain why some people do not notice this, and why other people have these lines. Well, I'm just guessing ...

Now, I am more than happy with my gp2x :) Frankly, for the price, it is a real bargain. I love the screen, very clear and bright. And I am really not disturbed by the scanlines.

EDIT : it seems that LCD tweaker settings are not saved when I turn off the gp2x. Is there a way to bypass this ? (I know, I should use the search function, but it's late now and I have to go to sleep ;))

You can do a GPU-Script and run it everytime your GP2X booted .... or you write one line to the boot script. I posted a manual here:
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=23908

because you have Firmware 1.0.0, your first parameter should be a zero... the second is your prefered prescaler.

To the editor-choice .... if you only get one loooong line, when you open the profile-file, then you shouldn't use the editor (the thing i wrote about MS Notepad/Edit).

I think i should do make a FAQ and post the link anytime someone has a problem :D
