What music do you all like?

I like:

Above all, Björk, Sigur Rós, múm, Stafrænn Hákon, Aphex Twin...

but there are many others.

check out my Last.fm page for more details...

I'm a hardrock and (black, death, doom)metal fan. :)

Groups like:

behemoth
Immortal
Iron Maiden
(the old) metallica
Cradle of Filth (only one cd really, damnation and a day)
Dimmu borgir
Sepultura
Apocalyptica
Rammstein
Etc

No Slipknot or any NU metal for me though. :)

metal: system of a down, dragonforce, sonata arctica, rhapsody, dream theater
rock: alien ant farm, the mountain goats, offspring, cake, red hot chili peppers
ska: streetlight manifesto, the planet smashers, the aquabats
jazz: miles davis, dave brubeck
hip-hop: canibus, del, aesop rock, cypress hill
classical: bach, chopin, mozart, beethoven
electronic: rayza, cuevox, the flashbulb, kraftwerk
chip: maktone, reed

Hmm... I like a huge mixture of stuff. Pretty much anything made before 1996 is alright with me. But specifically, I like a lot of old videogame music and Weird Al. I also like some anime music. Old school rap is great, but most newer stuff(after '96) is horrible.

I also like a surprisingly large amount of the "oldies" from the 50s, 60s, and 70s that my parents listen to(not elton john or the beatles... I can't stand either of 'em).

I'm gonna go listen to the music from the first level of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2(NES) now.

Bleh, I like most of the music my parents (Hard rock, rock, punk, etc) too...
Don't really listen to classic a lot, but I like Carl Orff (carmina burmana) :)

I Like everything except for rap. (includes video game music etc...)

Mind you the beat in rap is ok but I have never really understood anything the rappers say except for slim hes kinda ez to understand.

Now that alot of rap has the children in there.. thats a nono!
Oh.. and I dont like every song I just like most of em :)

I mostly listen to prog rock... lot's of it, but that includes sub-genres like progressive metal etc. and some metal, rock etc. I also like to listen to baroque, classical and romantic era music, but I don't own any albums of that sort of thing.

Favourite bands include:

Yes
Genesis (Gabriel era, not Phil Collins...)
Gentle Giant
Pink Floyd (to a point)
Pain Of Salvation*
Spocks Beard*
The Flower Kings
Dream Theater
moron
Jethro Tull
IQ *
King Crimson
Glass Hammer*
Mike Oldfield (Mainly his new age instrumental concept albums like Tubular Bells 1, 2 and 3, Hergest Ridge etc)
Rick Wakeman (IMO, one of the greatest soloist instrumentalists ever, and one of the best keyboard players :))
Van Der Graaf Generator*

*So far, but I really need to listen to more of their stuff- buy an album to be sure

Lemme see now... Kings of Leon, Killswitch Engage, System of a Down, Audioslave, Rage Against The Machine, Chemical Brothers, Bloc Party, Tenacious D, Goldfrapp, My Chemical Romance, Incubus, Muse, Kasabian, Maximo Park, Queens of the Stone Age...

Basically rock with some other stuff thrown in for good measure.

I'm more of a jazz/art rock kind of guy...

Sigor Ros (great choice btw)
The Weakerthans
Arcade Fire
Karate (check this band out if you havent yet)
Morphine
American Football
Sunny Day Real Estate

I listen to a lot of Jpop... and I occasionally go back to my roots of punk/ska/stuff....

Jpop / JRock / Asian music in general

MOVE - Probably my Favorite band right now...
Dragon Ash
Morning Musume - They are just so catchy... hahahaha
Orange Range
Lee Jung Hyun - Crazy awesome music!
... some others I don't care to list ...

punk/ska/and other non asian music

nofx
tatu. -
less than jake
The Vandals
Sublime
Long Beach Dub All Stars
... and others ...

I've been on an Asian music kick ever since I started watching Initial D about 4 years ago... Move does all the theme songs of that anime. The Tokyopop version of Initial D is poop, just thought you all would want to know.

The 2pac is my friend's fault and The Streets being at the top is because of this time I had to delete my entire mp3 collection and all I had was a single copied album from my uncle. A part from them it generally shows my taste in music.

EDIT: Don't forget to join the gp32 group, thanks Pinkie :)

System of a Down, Rammstein, Blümchen, Evanescence, Metallica, Some Old Rock like Deep Purple and the old Black Sabbith, DJ Tiesto, Remix's of songs, such as Jet Grind Radio's Dragula mix, Etc... (Mostly Alternative, Hard Rock, and Techno/Rave/Euro Rave/Fast Music/Happy Hardcore) I would list more, but I have no clue on what artist did what besides the ones mentioned.

Most Ops/Singles are good. Some of them are to strange to keep on my hardrive.

I love how Jpop likes to incorporate English into their songs too tis neat.

Latest anime serie I watched was FF:U (good IMO, bad in other's eyes, but I'm on a fan forum of it :p), but I'm saving for Wolf's rain, which looks pretty good too. :)

if you like sigur ros, check other music from iceland... a really nice page where you can sample a lot of music is smekkleysa.net(fyi, smekkleysa in icelandic means "bad taste"... lol). smekkleysa is a record label started by the sugarcubes, an incarnation of one of the many bands bjork was in before she went solo. but definitely try stafraenn hakon because he's really close to sigur ros in sound and emotion, etc... another non-icelandic band you should definitely check out is explosions in the sky... really nice.
