Looking at my Gp2X i seem to feel that the build quality is lacking slightly. My headphone jack broke off and i am going to replace my unit as soon as possible. Also the volume control looks cheap and moves around.

<_< Anyway what do you guys think?

Mines been apart quite a few times now while ive been playing and its nice and solid

I dropped it this morning and the only ill effect was a bent battery terminal which i straightened and everything was fine.

i agree, compared to the gp32 this gp2x feels cheap and pretty shoddy. I was disappointed when i got mine.

it feels ver nice and solid IMO, i dropped it and the shiny trim on the side popped out but it poped right back, no harm done

Mine feels really solid.... Even more solid than my GP32, I think most of the build shoddiness only affects the early Korean and European-release units. Mine is a version 102 (as opposed to 100 and 101 as some are) unit, ordered through GP32Z.

Solid build quality on my end. It equals the build or better than my original gp32.

I like mine, but then I never had a GP32 to compare it with.
It doesn't feel as solid as my Neo Geo Pocket, but then it's not as chunky as that...
Over all good design I think.

I think the build quality is really nice, the stick even seems a bit too well build ;) (exspecially compared to the GP32 stick, which is a bit nicer for playing but feels a lot cheaper).

It feels pretty solid to me, although the last handheld I owned was an original gameboy

I think it's perfect, with the exception of the joystick... it is a tad too firm for games which require rapid and dextrous joystick movement, and far too easy to do an upper diagonal when you are clearly pushing almost perfectly straight left or right.

Don't really know why people are comparing the build unfavorably to the GP32. All the ports have nice rubber coverings now, the battery cover feels more solid, and I like the new flush screen protector better (so far seems more scratch resistant too). Hell, even the joystick is at least nicer *quality* than the GP32's cheap little plastic doodad, even though it could use some tweaking.

I like the volume buttons too... I remember some people were concerned that a rocker switch couldn't be used as two independent buttons, but since the volume button control is sort've "floating" instead of pivoting on the middle, it looks like pressing both of them at the same time will not be a problem, opening up some possibilities for vertical MAME orientation, etc.
