Well, i was browsing through the 'Live' magazine which comes with the Mail on Sunday, and noticed they had an article/review thing on jukeboxes.
Reading through, my eyes befall the image of the PVP we all know and love. Reading further, i see it has been given the 'Best Buy' award.
This can only be good news for GP2X retailers like craig, as i would assume from being in a popular newspaper, this article is going to be widely read.

Anyway, i know you want it, so here's the scan.

Yeah, just noticed it's tiddly, hang on, i'll get a bigger one.

This was floating round afew days back and they gave it quite a nice review but I dont think they actually used the device to review it, just made a review based on the specs.

They said it was "Comfortable to hold".

It doesn't matter. All so called "problems" are software related. And those few real faulty units, come on people, in every batch of every product in the word there are always few faulty units. That's the fact. This is why warranty exists. But even, GP2X is the best from all those units imho. For example compare battery life. OMG! :) GP2X with its proven 5 hours of playback before firmware fixes and optimisations just kicks ass.
And no, I am not on vacation on Hawaii with Craig and ED paying my expenses :)

Were those devices the only nine reviewed? Seems rather an odd selection considering the Mail's audience. Surely a run down of portable movie and music players should include the PSP?

a device that only eats one not widely used format dosnt realy deserver the name media player.

Great that the gp2x gets some atention, maybe people will bug shops enugh that some stock it :)

Well... misleading, certainly; the games will, however, have to be copied over from your computer at some point, so its probably technically correct. It just has the implication that it'll play *all* games from your computer instead of *some* games if and only if they have an interpreter for GP2x specifically made.

i'd be more worried about what will happen when the daily mail reading hordes descend upon gbax and order 2000 of the things, wait a while to receive them, get their orders cancelled when they wonder and moan about their order not turning up and then realise when they have the device in their hands what they have to do to get a device that works as advertised (as the others i am sure will do).

while very nice i just wonder wether the device and indeed the people around it, including "the scene" would be ready for an influx of mid-late aged, middle class white blokes who want people who arent just like them "sent back home", criminals publicly flogged and hung in the streets! Certainly i know my old man who sadly reads the Mail and is of this ilk having received a device such as the GP2x is at the moment would have been straight down to trading standards, companies house & the taxman....

i loved the gp32 and i love my gp2x already but those surrounding it and i do include myself in that just arent ready for the big time yet

Not sure beng recommended by the Daily Mail does much for our group kudos.......

All the cool kids read the Daily Mail, the Independant is so last summer.

Its only a tiny article so obviously can't go into much depth. Although imagine how nice it would be for the daily mail reader who got one to play movies, and they can't play their xvid video, and they look here and go "ooooooh quake", and then pick up a patch ;)
